I know that's what the article says but it looks like another example of fans not getting the very simple principle that you only get compo if you've offered a young player an improved contract. If he'd been offered more than £8k a week to stay at West Ham he'd have signed that over coming here for what is probably around £1k.And we have to pay compo

His agent is Rio Ferdinand's company who I believe look to the long term and tell their young players that rewards will come later if they get their heads down and establish themselves in men's football and show what they can do
