Maddison has made very good career moves, ensuring that he plays lots of football to continue his development.
You only have to look at George Thomas to see that going straight to the premier league from league 1 is near impossible.
I can see him going right to the very top.
Edit, George Thomas is nowhere near Maddisons ability also.

Sell on clauses are an eye opener -and can be all different when QPR sold Raheem Sterling to Liverpool in 2010, they made sure to include a 20% sell-on clause in addition to the initial transfer fee. In James Madison's case - Coventry city it was reported received 15% of the transfer fee Norwich to Leicester (20 million) so received 3 million - They will receive a minimum 10% to 15% transfer fee from Leicester to Man Utd anything from a transfer fee quoted at 70 to 100 million whatever you believe - CCFC receiving potentially 7 to 10 million - we sold him for 3 million so we might make out of the total deal up to 15 million - - Football owners are not stupid when it comes to figures and it for certain it will be 10% or even the original 15% - there also will be probably add ons for full England caps etc - dod not know whey people quote such low figures

Spot on, I think his advisors chose Norwich.
I've said repeatedly what you have above, his career has been brilliantly managed by those around him.

Highly doubt we would receive 10-15% of a Leicester sale of Maddison. Happy to be proven wrong but where did you get this from?

How would that ever work contractually? Who's going to pay us that then, Leicester? That would mean Norwich would have had to put in that clause when they sold him to Leicester...doubt it.

I'm not a contract lawyer? But have seen/read of some contracts which do have such clauses. I was saying it was an option, but tbh i don't really care. I seriously doubt he will move this summer.

Just saw a reddit thread on people's experiences with him and he sounds like a right prick. Are people just naturally like this or is it the way they're brought up?

I seem to remember from school that a few of those that were good at sport were full of themselves - I think a lot of the time because they were the ones constantly getting in the school paper etc and getting loads of attention, esp from the girls. I guess when you're at a point when you're just clearly so much better than others like Maddison and most of your friends are similar and it's a macho competitive environment it just exacerbates it. Similar with the girls - you tended to find the prettier ones and those that 'developed' earlier become the vacuous bimbos because they're used to attention and people getting them things without having to try.

*That's not to say all those good at sports/pretty are like this - there were plenty from the sports teams who were also great company. And the clever ones were just as bad in terms of self-confidence they were just far more discreet and didn't want attention drawn to them so they could be more devious and you'd arguably have to keep a much closer eye on them.

This is how I imagine it would work, if CCFC has terms in the contract for payments on future sales. I don't know if they do, so conjecture follows.

CCFC has a contract with Norwich for a cut of future sales. I would imagine the cut is on the profit of future sales (so CCFC don't get paid on the same sum twice). Let's imagine it's 10% - just because the maths is easier.

Norwich sell to Leicester for £20m. We sold for £3m so it's £17m profit and Norwich pay City £1.7m.

Leicester sell to Man U for £70m. That's £50m profit and Norwich pay City £5m (because the contract is between CCFC and NCFC). In all likelihood, Norwich added a clause into their contract with Leicester. They don't have to - but it makes sense if they know they have an ongoing liability to CCFC. Let's imagine that it's 20%. LCFC pay NCFC £10m and NCFC pay £5m to CCFC.

Kind of. It was more like one of those residents association newsletter things - about 8 pages of school 'news' and filler from students to pad it out. Always had a section on the sports with the players getting regular name checks, as well as mention in stuff like assemblies and school notices.

The club said that the deal was such that cov would benefit for the duration of Maddison’s career...or words to that effect. Seemingly this includes percentage of future transfers, payments for international caps etc

Bloody good deal but can’t see this being a percentage as this would be out of norwich’s Control.maybe a fixed fee?

When you sell someone you could put whatever you like in it could ask for 50% of every sale of his career then it’s up to the buying club to add that every time he is sold again

When we bought our house we were the third owners, but there was a clause in the deeds that stated if we wanted to carry out certain works to the house we had to get the original builder's permission, and pay them a fee for their approval. It was pointed out by our solicitor, that although there was no contract between us and the original builder, by signing the contract we were legally bound by the clauses in the deeds. Same thing?
