Heard a rumour from a source up north that he could be coming on loan.

Never heard of him myself. Came from nephew of Alex McLeish. Doncaster and Hull also want.

Looked good in his early appearances last season but faded a bit.
I think he's decent though from what I've seen though.

Nice to have options rather than the lets stick with Thomas one of last season

True, but we already have Jobello, Kastaneer and Wakefield as recognised wingers plus Jones to return at some point. Add in to that various players who can play on the wings if required and a number of promising looking wingers in the u23's..... do we really want to use a loan spot for another winger? I could understand it if he was available on a free and we were taking a punt on the chance of a decent resale but not as a loan. I'd sooner let Dexter Walters get some game time

Wakefield is going, Jones wont be back til Dec/Jan? If either Kast or Jobello get injured we will be playing shipley on the wing again. And i do not want to see that ever again.

The jury is out there on Wakefield. Who knows if he's good enough or not - I suspect he'll be sent out on loan - and Jones probably won't play any significant part, if at all this season.

Surely if Walters etc. were good enough Robins wouldn't feel the need to draft another winger in?

Over the past two seasons we've ended up being thread bare on the wing come seasons end so I understand Robins' thought process by potentially drafting another in on loan.

Shipley is fine as wide midfielder in a narrow formation eg. 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.

I do not agree and if he was 'fine', that will not get us promotion.
I disagree and believe Shipley is 'fine' if a left sided player eg. Jobello gets injured and he has to cover.

Regarding promotion, I'm happy to get into play-offs as it's progress and reckon Shipley has a part to play in that.

I do not disagree with the last part, but i feel hes definitely better in a central role. He has no pace, no skill and barely gets crosses in.

Surely if that was the case we'd just change formation and play Shipley in a midfield 3? Given how skinny we are at right back and potentially needing reinforcements up top i just don't see another winger as a priority.

That said, it doesn't look as though we will need lots of loans this season so i guess as long as Rangers don't force us to play him it doesn't make much difference.

Yea, from the limited amount of games I've seen him play, he's skillful but no end product.

Watched on Scottish TV and I'm not writing him off!

I shall refer to him as Luke McThomas then.

Yep, better centrally but hasn't let the team down when playing as a wide midfielder (not winger) in a narrow formation, so yes he won't get as many crosses in.
However, to say he's got no skill? Come on that's harsh m8, he's got good vision for a pass and an eye for goal too.

He's arguably got a decent eye for goal but at times his passing can be rather haphazard shall we say. But you did say he's got good vision for a pass rather than the ability to also make it.

Yeah was just reading that, sounds like it might be quite nasty. Now makes more sense that we might be looking to bring in some loan cover.

Sounds like a chronic injury too. He was talking about an incident in his Chelsea days where he’d just recovered from a hammy injury and had a collapsed lung after training.

Sounds like Wakefield has had massive problems with his hamstring in the past. The Telegraph article said he had previously had stem cell surgery or something to that effect.

I dont think he is that far behind Bayliss. If he can work on being a bit more consistent will be a very good player.

Kasteneer is listed as a forward on the ccfc website..... maybe Robin's has other plans for him if we don't get Bright and/or we sell Chaplin.

Ah ok. Thought I read somewhere he can play central and left. Bayliss is usually in the midfield or sometimes just left of central so could cover.

you may be right about him playing centrally just that whenever I've seen him he's has been used as an out and out winger.
