Just been informed today that I am to be a great-grandfather for the 2nd time! I always thought that sort of thing happened when you are about 80 - 90? My eldest great-grandson is already 8!
I'm only 66! :emoji_weary:

Trouble is, they live in Nottingham, so I don't get to see them as much as I'd like to.

I had high cholesterol a couple of years ago, not too bad but the doctor said I have to take statins to get it down. I got it down and was told I'm in good health for my age. I said great I'll stop taking them now then ? He said in an anxious voice " No you have to take them for the rest of your life, or you'll have a stroke or heart attack."
What a parlarva !

I'm on 19 tablets a day, keep GTN spray close to hand (in case of heart attack), and been on them for about 17 years (since my first h.a. I've been told the same as you BBR. I'm on them for life. It's a bugger! But we got a free bus pass though! I had mine a while ago but as I have a car, I rarely use it, but it's nice to go somewhere and let someone else do the driving!

Got my cholestral down from 9.5 to 5 on diet alone
Although they recommended statins around 10 years ago I declined
Don't know why really but I believe there are side effects
Then once your properly mature, like yourself Houch, they reckon they are really effective through to the 80's and the side effects less.

Well done wingy. I hate tablets and didnt even know what high cholesterol was until they explained it to me. But the statins got it down and I took to them okay. A mate of mine is in his 60's and takes nothing, not even a paracetamol tablet. Just eats lots of fruit and veg and stopped drinking years ago and says he will never take medication. He may regret being so cocky one day !

Did something very similar myself. Fortunately found high high levels of cholesterol fairly early when having prostrate test. Doctor got me to do something positive about before he was going to put my on tablets. Changed eating habits by not eating so much shit and reversed diabetes. I still drink but now only at weekends and not every night. Lost 4 stone as well now over last 2 years.

Look at it this way in a few years there’s another lift down to watch the city - go to the bar for drinks , take you to bands that they have heard of etc

A customer told me to use the free bus pass, he said you can use it for all the West Midlands. Knowing I'm not going to St Andrews he said jokingly " it drops you right outside the ground. " I've checked out the new Black Sabbath museum in Brum so may use it for that ?
