West Ham u23 player Conor Coventry been linked with a loan move to us. Source usually spot on with West Ham news. He’s a defensive midfielder. Opinions?

An attacking midfielder would be more of a priority.

Am I imagining this or has it been said that agents touting players are being turned away by us because we’re sorted in Midfield?

Signing a defensive midfielder could just be cover for Kelly....or could mean a shift back to 4231

I put this on another thread Panda. It was a bit unclear whether the club had stated this before or after Bayliss was sold. The impression I got was that after.

Coventry and Bright on loan, sorted for 4-2-3-1 with depth too.

Stranger things have happened
He has the same agent as Liam Kelly, George Thomas and a number of other players with Cov connections

Have a word ffs,
Why would we want to give experience to a 19 year old from west ham, when we've got some fantastic young players of our own just breaking into the first team squad?
Eccles is one such example!!!
Agreed re. talented youngsters being given a chance, fatso, but I trust MR's judgement in what players we need to bring in.

Don't think there's much chance he would come just to be back up for Kelly, and I would be very surprised if Robins looks to play 2 holding midfielders. Robins seems to like Eccles, so if Kelly does miss the odd game he will probably step in.

Bosma, Ogogo, Brown, Allassani, Bakayoko?

At best I’d describe his judgment as “hit and miss”

Bosma and Allisani were U23's development squad.

Ogogo and Brown haven't worked out, but MR didn't fuck about replacing/dropping them for better players.

Bakayoko has done whats been asked of him and will get better.

You could say Hit and Miss, but I believe he brought in Brown and Ogogo after very successful seasons with Shrewsbury, it didn't work, shit happens, MR learns v quickly I feel.

That always catches me out , thought it was my hearing. Imagine Eakin with Coventry in the team ..he will be calling him every team in league 1 except for the right one!

Ha, ha, ha!
He was calling Michael Rose, Andy Rose for most of the game on Saturday.

It needs to happen. Give him the number 87. I'd buy that immediately.

Any gossip your end mate ? Hoping bright doesn’t move anywhere before 5 tomorrow so we could still be in with a shout

That’s the thing that makes me doubt it. If a PL team are sending a youngster on loan then more often than not they are expecting masses of game time. I’d rather we brought in a proper squad player on a permanent if that were the case, allowing us a better chance of playing our youngsters.

Clive Eakin says, Coventry scores for Coventry, but Goff Foster says, yeah but who scored for Coventry.
