He doesn’t work in a 4-3-3; positional sense and discipline aren’t his strong points. However, I think we unanimously agree he’s extremely talented and is without question a game changer in L1. I’m confident we’ll challenge anyway; he’d increase that confidence even more.
While we’ve set up 4-3-3 so far this season, I think MR would revert to 4-2-3-1 if we signed Bright. He’s the sort of player you build a team around in L1. Plus, 4-2-3-1 is a lot easier to learn and play to than 4-3-3 in my opinion, so shouldn’t be too difficult for players to revert to. It could also explain why MR hasn’t signed another CM this year, as the longer term plan is to only play two. Maybe hopeful thinking, but why not!
