The embarrassing mindset is how accepting our fans are of abject mediocrity. Any team in League One would be extremely disappointed in to have got that result today, yet here we are trying to sugar coat it.

Don’t think it’s being sugar-coated, it’s just perspective. Yes, we should have won. Yes, we should have played better, but if the officials had done their job we would have.

Too soon to right the entire season off based on one result that, let’s face it given our history against the poorer teams we could have predicted.

It’s not good enough, but it’s also not the disaster that some are saying.

I don't think the season is over based on that one result, but the performance itself was nowhere near good enough considering the standard of the opposition. It's worrying how the early signs are that we've failed to address any of the issues from last season in terms of personnel or play-style. Last season our big weaknesses were breaking down defensive teams and finishing chances, and lo and behold we come up against a defensive team and can't break them nor finish the few meaningful chances we created. We were handed an absolute gimme here and we blew it. Any other team in this league would have been rubbing their hands at the prospect of playing this Bolton side.

No one is saying it's not disappointing but the meltdown is pathetic.

We've lost several of our better players:
Contracts run down
Player asked to leave
3 on loan players returned (to play at Championship clubs)
we have moved from our home
We are 2 games into the season, with our most impressive pre season performer yet to appear
Yet - we have 4 points from 2 games

People are moaning because they think we have not progressed from last season.
Talk about a manager having to do a difficult job - be careful what you wish for.

I agree that from the first TWO games we appear to have similar issues to last season, and even my 10 year old said they’d park the bus and we’d struggle to break them down, but we still have significant parts of our recruitment to play (Allen, Kastaneer) and all of the new players need to get used to playing with each other. As inexperienced at this level as Bolton are, they’ve probably all played together to some extent.

We created over 20 chances, arguably scored at least 1 of them and on a different day should have won.

Deep breaths. Folk need to get some perspective. We might have a bad season, we might push for playoffs. Too soon for any of us to say. Talk of automatics is and always was a tad optimistic. On paper Sunderland and Pompey (at least) should be way ahead of us this year.

I actually think our squad is pretty decent, apart from the attack. That was our biggest issue from last season and I feel it could be worse this year.

We are woeful in that department, I almost feel as if I'm pinning my hopes on Godden being some sort of saviour. If he isn't I think we'll be a bit fucked.

I understand that it's early days, and we can't take too much stock from these early results, but then again, we were playing a youth team. This isn't a regular poor performance against a poor side, it was us failing to beat a hastily scraped together bunch of kids and it's hard to feel downbeat about our chances after watching that. I sincerely hope that we have a wonderful season and everything from here on out goes swimmingly, I'm sick of watching us in this god awful league, but like I said, it's very hard not to feel like it's going to be same old same old.

None of Kelly, Shipley or Westbrooke are midfielders that drive forward with the ball, but Westbrooke has looked capable of playing decisive passes (not today).

I would say the forwards (not including Godden as I'm not judging yet) don't look clinical goalscorers but they sure aren't one dimensional. Biamou is there to compete for the ball and hold it up. Hiwula has the ball at his feet to drive into the box. Baka is....well, I'm not sure yet but he's not either of those. Even if you added in Ponti he's a penalty box predator and poacher. So not one-dimensional.

As for the centre halves that's just silly. McFadzean and Rose are anything but cloggers and Hyam is still to come back in.

Take our under 18s, how many make it professional? 2/3 a year?

Half of those playing for Bolton will barely make more than 10/15 appearances in their careers.

The first goal that apparently should have stood would have completely changed the out look of that game. The Bolton boys would have had nothing to defend and the awful tension that gripped our players and fans from the start would have been broken. I think we would have run out easy winners. I did wonder how long it would be before Robins started to get stick this season. Second game last season and the same this. Yes, we should have won today. The players ran themselves into the ground and the applause at the end from our fans was testament to that. There were positives. I thought that Godden showed he will score goals with his two efforts today. Jobella was much more of a threat and the young lad who came on looks a real prospect. It was a totally frustrating game today. However, I thought the Bolton team and fans today were terrific and despite the result I enjoyed the game.

Tells me teams should have a bit for faith in their youth.Stop signing players that had their chance and have already failed repeatedly elsewhere.Give your youth a proper chance.They can surprise you.

Very disappointing result, but we are just two games in and clearly the officials had a bit of a mare and Biamou and Godden are both seemingly not match fit.

Allen also could well be a significant cog too. One man doesn't make a team, but they CAN make one hell of a difference.

Bad result, but just one game.

just watched the highlights, and the camera angles are not conclusive nevertheless

1. On another day all 3 would be given
2. On each occasion, the linesman didnt flag for offside until a lengthy conversation , Why not? only he has the view of the line
2. On another day at least 2 penalties would be given

I dont see how we are any worse than we were after last week or before the season started.

Creativity as in the final ball and scoring goals. But we are only two games in. Arguably Allen is yet to play and Godden hasnt had chance to say more than hello to his team mates. Both might help address those problems.

I am sure Bolton will struggle as the season goes on. Playing them 2nd game their first at home was probably the worst time to play them. For me it had upset written all over it.
