All three are good. Perhaps an opportunity to play 3 central defenders to free up wing-backs to attack more?

Would like to see that. Hopefully see Biamou and Godden up front in a 2 too.

I agree. Max wins almost everything in the air that comes to him. If he can get the same understanding with Godden as he forged with McWankty, he could turbo-drive Godden's goal count.

Would also be a good way to get Godden in a front 2
Really don't think we need to start mixing things up yet to a) get Godden in a front 2, he looked more than adequate in the system last night, and b) get Max into the team. Why not let a system that has so far got 2 wins and a draw (in unlikely circumstances) progress naturally before making such cut-throat decisions. I dont think he would have signed Jobello and Kastaneer if we were going to play 5-3-2. Also, a bit of depth is a good thing, we don't have to start cramming players on to the pitch because they're the decent players. Have faith in a system.

I believe that I wrote that it was 'perhaps an opportunity'. A far cry from insisting we mix things up now.

Hate to piss on peoples chips, but I'm gonna.....I haven't been overly impressed with Rose thus far, seen him in 3 games (2 league, 1 Friendly) and didn't go to Caraboa cup game, albeit he had a better game by all accounts.
Needs to improve his passing and decision making for me, so I'd put Hyam infront of him for now, who defo has a good passing range, composure and decision making qualities.

Hope Rose improves to prove me wrong.

If anything, McFadz's decisions to pass square across the backline or angle a pass to a wide-man haven't been great as the ball has been intercepted 2-3 times now, hopefully that will improve.

He has fired 50 yard passes to feet, I am not sure what range you want.

Also an assist.

Apoligies for not wanking over a new signing who has played only 3 games for us....I will judge him over 7-10 games, if that's ok?

Took Sterling at least 6-8 games to come good, so will reserve judgement for now.

In the 2 league games I've seen, he didn't fire 50 yd passes about to feet, believe you are exagerating a lot.

Range wise, give it to a player that can ping the ball about?

Reserving judgement after passing judgement
Indeed, I'm not as impressed as others in the 3 games I've seen him, so far.

see my Sterling comparison, perhaps.

Do you have an opinion on how Rose has done so far?

So...did we waste a wage on an ageing Mcfadzean? I'm reserving judgement....but i wish we didn't have a centre half as our playmaker.....

Fadz has that bit more experience and vocal presence so he does have something different.

Always good to have three decent centre halves available to you for injuries and suspensions, as well as providing competition for each other anyway.

Plus we have the option to go 3-5-2.

We've still yet to see Pask, who was highly rated at West Ham before injury, and potentially further down the line Williams.

Can you imagine the songs we can make from this about him?

Michael Rose kicks the ball away, Hallelujah
Michael Rose kicks their number 9, Hallelujah
endless

Michael Rose
He shoots, he scores
Hallelujah

Not likely to be used too often but nice to have in the hymn book.

Definitely shouldn’t do this right now, but it would get Mason and Dabo forward, allowing for a proper front 3 if 4-3-3 isn’t working in the future.

——Rose—McFadzean—Hyam——
Dabo——Kelly——Allen——Mason—
—Job/Kasta——Godden——Hiwula—

Michael Rose, studs knee high, hallelujah
Michael Rose, kicks your thigh, hallelujah
Michael Rose, scrapes your shins, hallelujah
Breaks the rules, but he wins, hallelujah
Michael Rose, commits a foul, hallelujah
Michael Rose, rapes your owl, hallelujah

He'll really flower this season being able to play out from the back
Let's hope he doesn't wilt in the winter.

Last night’s game was the best I’ve seen Rose play. Played better than Hyam last night I thought, but I’m not saying he’s necessarily a better player — just had a better game.

And I must admit that against Southend I thought he looked a little nervous / tentative. Last night he seemed to have settled, looked more composed and genuinely did some good passing (to feet ;)).

Might be being a little harsh on Hyam as I totally rate him at this level, but I have the feeling Rose and McFadz will generally get the nod depending on form etc. Will be interesting to see who plays Saturday.

Was his best game so far (that I’ve seen) in a city shirt. Not too worried any more about losing Willis, put it that way. Again, nice problem to have with 3 decent CBs.
