so, 10 weeks tomorrow since it was announced we are playing in birmingham. not a single bit of news from owners of the club as to progress as to getting back to the city....

no update on.........

1) negotations with wasps
2) negotiations with CCC on addressed sites (woodlands) or possible identifed sites by CCC
3) potential sites outside CCC boundaries and EFL responses

wonder how long it will be before we are updated on what must surely be the priority of our owners ?

apologies in advance this isnt football related, but suspect it will get lost in the politics thread. mods can move it though if they feel approrpiate

I’m quite content that no one is playing who has the biggest manhood. To me I’m hopeful that conversations are taking place.

What updates were you hoping for?

I’d start with....

Where we are at with discussions with wasps
Where we are at with discussions with council on woodlands
Where we are at with the council helping find us a plot
Last meeting with council and how it went
Last attempted meeting with council and next steps as there wasn’t one
Update on discussions with EFL about possibility of identifying a site just outside of the city boundary etc

The EFL said every 3 months they expect an update on the progress. When those 3 months start however is anyone’s guess!

We need a heavy hitter, independent of sisu, Wasps or ccc asking these questions on a frequent basis, basically being a pain in the ass. Tuesdays piss poor home attendance of just over a 1000 home fans should be a wake up call to what I would say is going to become a desperate plight long term.

Being reported by Gilbert that the casino are signing a new 10 year deal.
Make of that what you will.

You think ccfc fans should write to the EFL to get an update as to progress about CCFC return to our city ?. Surely the club need to be showing those stay away fans that they are doing all they can to get back, to convince them this is short term and to support the club through this period ?
agreed - but look at the Bolton ticket fiasco. The Club were slated for not updating the fans - but when they updated them to say “no further news” they were slated for not telling anyone any different.

Just assume we’re no further forward until someone comes out and says so

Anybody sensible knew ccfc could do nothing or say a lot about last weeks Bolton ticket fiasco.

I wonder if the Sky blue Trust has been in contact with any of the parties involved. You would expect that they would be at least trying to obtain information from CCFC and the Council as to any land issues.
I d hope that the Trust are my just contacting the ELF who we know can do little to nothing.
For a supporters Trust they are deafening silent.

Wouldn’t have thought so, unless they’ve changed it in recent years Wimbledon and Crystal Palace shared selhurst park in the 90s early 00s
Where they in the same division though ? I just seem to remember this being brought up when we were at Sixfields and Northampton were in the league below challenging for promotion at the time.

Just you as you would like to know.

Nah it was about 50% of the crowd of the Ricoh for an equivalent game last season so in line with expectations

I’d just like to enjoy the football for a while.

Tired and bored of the politics stuff. Our owners aren’t great, but they also aren’t stupid and know we can’t sustain playing in Birmingham forever.

It’s Wasps and CCC I’d be worried about when it comes to stupidly - ‘cutting their nose to spite their face’ comes to mind.

All for debate and discussions re keeping the pressure on ALL parties to ensure they are ALL aware we want our club back in Coventry, but not up for another 30 page Wasps v SISU v CCC thread.

We need someone with media clout shoving a microphone under Nick Eastwood’s nose, under Tim Fisher’s nose and George Duggins’s nose on a regular basis, Duggins is up for Lord Mayor in May IF he gets elected to the council, he’ll want to be popular in the coming months won’t he.
Also Geoffrey Robinson is standing down at the soon to be General Election his nominated successor will want to be popular too. I hope our Trust are on to this.

I'm not sure what you're hoping for regarding wasps talks. Wasps won't give us a deal unless we agree to underwrite any financial penalty if the EU commission find the ricoh was undersold. And quite rightly the club have rejected this.

Unless wasps drop this demand or the EU Commission drop or complete the investigation there we wont be returning to the ricoh. We've only played 1 league game at St Andrew's so Wasps won't start feeling the impact of us not being at the Ricoh, until they do thet won't change their position. This includes any boycotting of watching wasps by ccfc fans.

Not too sure what you’re expecting the club to say. Boddy said a week ago he’s maintaining dialogue with Stuart Cain but the reality is your first two points require a third party the club don’t control to respond, Wasps and CCC respectively.

Your first point requires Wasps to change their stance, until that happens nothing moves forward.

Your second point requires CCC to respond appropriately. Maybe make CCFC a similar offer on the land to the one they gave Wasps for car park C. That needs to happen before the actual planning process even starts.

So that leaves your third point as the only one where there is an element of the club being in control. Personally I’m not sure putting pressure on SISU and the EFL to move the club permanently out of the city is a route we want to go down.

I agree with your point if this was a utopian fairytail. Do you think the most effective negotiations take place in full site of the public. knowledge is power and can be weaponised against us. Surely to satisfy the fans is not worth weakening our cause!

I there is no news next March u could have a point.

If only we had a local newspaper with a sports journalist who could questions of all parties and try to update the public, as opposed to staying quiet until the Wasps/CCC give's them the next story they would like releasing.

Or a radio station with people who "support" CCFC and can ask these tricky questions

Boddy gets a lot of praise on here for some reason I step back from that, to me he is the other cheek of the same backside, he’s been on this ground issue for over twelve months.

Still amazes me that the likes of CWR and the Telegraph just passively accept Duggins being caught out or Wasps putting unreasonable demands in place. Surely the minimum we should expect is them to be questioned on it.

Add in a trust that seems terrified to say a bad word about either and its no wonder you have Wasps firing out PR rubbish and Duggins boasting he can do and say whatever he likes without challenge.
