We spoke with Max Biamou yesterday after the game and one of my friends asked him politely was he injured as he was not in the squad and he said NO - was he dropped (not tactful question) he did YES - not a happy bunny

I suppose you can understand a player being upset at not being in the side but the experience of JJ breaking down while coming back from his ACL injury means that the club and medical team are taking a lot more care this time with anyone coming back from the same injury
Max played in the U23's in the week which is the most sensible way for him to get game time in the early days of his comeback
Plus shortish appearances from the bench for the first team

Apparently, Robins mentioned on the radio that he asked Max to play in a certain way in one of the games and Max never followed orders

I disagree. He's 16, not on a pro contract and only became a full time scholar in the summer. N'Gandu was pushed forward into the U18 and U23 earlier than this lad was.
Let's give him time to develop.
If Max was dropped for his performance when he was shoved on to play on the left, a role he's clearly not suited for and is an error by MR. I'm not fussed Max was missing yesterday as he's had a few sub appearances and played for the U23, so for his long term recovery a rest may be beneficial, esp with Ports.mouth midweek.

Love the guy and think he brings something different off the bench. Same for Baka. But realistically he’s probably not up to first team standard IF the intention is to challenge for top 6 (or even top 2 for the optimists).

he's only played 5 games at this level. chances of him being the figurehead striker we need (when we play one up top) are slim. well worth having him as an option this season though

What Max will do is win flick ons and he will get on the end of crosses (now that we have someone who can cross a ball) Just need him fit first. Great asset imo.

The reason he was dropped really was Kasteneer being available. We play 1 up front, seems pointless having 2 strikers on the bench. We don't need to rush him back when we have other options.
The performance wasn't great at Bolton, but he was played out of position in a role I don't think he can play. He looked better once the shape was changed and he moved more central. Glad he's not happy about it though, shows he wants to play. It's a long season and it's only 1 game.

Max for me is an asset to the squad. He has a decent footballing brain and gets in the right places to hurt the opposition. When he was moved into the middle for the 10 mins he was on the pitch he had a goal ruled out for offside at Bolton.
When Godden is fit he is clearly our starter but I would far sooner have max coming off the bench to try and nick a goal than Baka.

Like I say seems very unfair he was even put on out on the left. Really not suited to the position anyway and coming back from a major knee injury lets put him in a position that requires sharp turns and twists. He may as well bollock the ball boy for not making a decent half time brew!
OK, maybe Biamou didn't follow his instructions, but he should never have been given the instructions in the first place. MR should be bollocked for either putting the wrong player on in that position or refusing to alter the system to accommodate Godden and Max by going two up top.

He wasn't told to play out on the left, he was told to play as an inside forward. It was Max that went wider than he was supposed to.

When I said out on the left I meant as a direct replacement for Hiwula (ie the inside forward role). But again it's probably not a position he's been particularly coached or told how to play even in training - he's a centre forward and should be playing down the middle.
If he was going wider than MR wanted given that his nature is to be central that would suggest poor communication/coaching. I wonder exactly what MR told him what he wanted him to do and how specific it was? If it was "I want you playing on the left of the front three" it'd hardly be making it clear.

MR is not someone that I would enjoy working for. You get the impression that he goes right off people very suddenly.
TBF if Biamou never played for us again, he’d still be a legend based on his goals vs MK Dons & Notts County. FWIW I agree that he’d offer more than Baka would in a front two with Godden, if we ever get to see it.

He won’t do anything - it’s obvious the penny has dropped for Robins and he wants him gone - unless it was in his contract it was utterly bonkers to offer him a 3 year deal.
Clarke Harris, Hiwula, Bakayoko have all at some like had to play in a slightly different role in the forward 3 so he has to do as instructed
Biamou has zero mobility - he’s not going to feature much at all

Well what else would he say? Maybe he thought he'd given clear instructions. I've done that - given what I thought were clear instructions only for someone to do something different to what I asked. Part of me thinks "are you just stupid?" but I've also got to look at why they didn't do it right.
It just doesn't make sense - why would Biamou - a centre forward who wants to be central - decide to play wider than the manager instructed him too? The only reason can be that Max misunderstood MR's instructions. If he was ignoring instructions you'd expect it to be because he was playing more centrally than MR wanted because that's how he likes to play, not wider.
