We all want to go back to the Ricoh as quickly as possible as fans but not so sure that the players and management are as keen due to been spoilt at the fantastic playing surface at St Andrew's enabling the free-flowing football style we play- Any new deal would have to include absolute guarantees that the Ricoh pitch would have to be in tip-top condition such as Swansea and Bristol city that also share with a rugby club but spend thousands on ensuring the pitch is suitable for there own free footballing style - When and if Wasps & CCFC do get around a table this issue will be a massive talking point as the pitch at the Ricoh was plainly for whatever reasons not suitable for football and rugby with the ball continually bobbling and some players commenting that they have to take an extra touch - The elation of returning if announced that we would be coming back has to be shared by Mark Robins and players

Agree, though I suspect (and rightly so for once) Wasps might expect a reasonable contribution from us towards the cost of maintenance, after all we probably need the pitch to be in much better condition that they might ever need.

Edit: this was in response to OP. However I also agree with FB and would prefer us to forget Ricoh and build our own new ground, I won't hold my breath though...

Not sure either, but I'm guessing something to do with frequency & depth of maintenance would affect how good the pitch is for the next time it's used. That would obviously need more ground staff. It's also difficult to tell just how good the pitch is at these other grounds used by both footie & egg-chasing teams - sometimes even the Ricoh pitch looked good but then when the game started you could see the ball bobbling everywhere.

At the end of the day they would be renting out a pitch to a football team, they should make sure it's suitable.

If I can't make any games this season I will just utilise my ST to get FA Cup Final tickets when we get there in May.

Looking at Ashton Gate, they completely revamped the pitch in the summer of 2017. This went on from June until August. Wasps got a concert and the monster trucks in over the summer. That somewhat explains the poor state of the pitch.

Exactly, when the pitch was done the people who did it said it should be fine as long as it was maintained properly.

At St Andrews as soon as the game is finished loads of people pile out onto the pitch to work on it, they are levelling it out and the lawnmowers are on. That never really happened at the Ricoh, there would be a couple of people with forks at halftime but thats about it.

Wasps even had to do a press release because they had heat lamps in over the winter once, most clubs would be doing that as standard wouldn't they?

Look at the pitches at Ryton and the Higgs, they are immaculate.

If we groundshare on an indefinite basis with Birmingham or anyone else for that matter, it is hard to see that it will not eventually effect the playing side. Will Sisu continue to make up the shortfall to keep us competitive? Will fans who are giving it a go for this year continue into the future?
We need to be back in Coventry and at the moment the Ricoh is the only place we can play.

I think with all the other ground sharers the football club or council owns the stadium.

Therefore there’s an incentive to maintain the pitch to be able to play decent football.

As the egg chasers own ours then they really don’t need to give a shit about the surface as long as rugby can be played on it.

Happy to go back to the Ricoh with contributions to the pitch, as long as our contribution to their coffers is recognised.

We are a big reason anyone wants to sponsor the Ricoh. We should be compensated as such

There has to be by the end of the season a plan - that needs to involve a statement of intent by the owners as to the long term strategy - I don’t see us surviving another year unless there is a real plan

The problem is for Fisher, does he actually have any cash or does he solely rely on SISU? Is he independent in his actions or does Joy completely control him? Why have they not sort after other investors if they don't have funds? On occasions I've been to Solihull Moors and they have built a new stand within two months, so surely if the land can be acquired a stadium of sorts could be built in a season.

I'd suggest most people (myself included) don't want to play tenant at the Ricoh to the franchise rugby club, but would accept returning there as an interim measure whilst our own home is built in the city.

I asked the same question to our old groundsman. He said constant maintenance (which costs money). Obviously effort and money was just not there to do so.
