McCallum - 7.5 such a mature performance
Rose - 8 some super passing and very calm
Hyam - 8.5 mom for goal and heading from defending set pieces
Mason - 7 defensively sound tired second half
Shipley - 7 thought he was excellent first half tired with everyone else
Westbrooke - 6 tidy performance I thought we lost some semblance of passing nowse when he went off
Kelly - 7.5 defensively very sound liked his whinging in the refs ears
Jobello - 7 much more up for it first half knackered second
Hiwula - 5.5 thought he was poor
Godden - 7 should have scored at least one but his overall game was excellent

Wakefield - nice to see him take on the left back

One flap in the 2nd half aside Marosi looked like he knew what he was doing and looking an improvement on Insanity Burge so far.

Both centre halves were fantastic.

Mason was good and McCallum did a great job out of position.

The midfield and attack were a mix of fair to poor... just not as poor as Gillingham.

Marosi - 8 - Thought he was outstanding today with not much to do, made a couple of good stops and so calm on the ball in our pass it out style.

McCallum - 7 - Did a good job, was abit ropey with ball in the air but fantastic tackling and tenacity.

Rose - 8.5 - What a find he is turning out to be, didn't lose a header and so calm out on the ball, passing range excellent my MOTM

Hyam - 8.49 - Another assured performance from our player of the season when called upon in McFadzeans absence and got the goal, Rose just shaded it for me.

Mason - 7 - Linked up well with Hiwula but slowly became quiet as we struggled to get out in the second half.

Shipley - 7 - Excellent in the first half and driving at Gills back four on a number of occasions, didnt miss place a single pass, tired in second half

Westbrooke - 6.5 - quiet but effective game from Westbrooke who helped control the midfield with both Shipley and Kelly

Kelly - 8 - Captain fantastic, did what he does best, controlled the midfield and won every second ball, again tired in the second, aired quality.

Jobello - 7 - Very lively in the first half and looked dangerous in the air, put in a wonderful cross in the first 2 mins for a Godden header.

Hiwula - 5.5 - Huffed and puffed but it just didnt go to plan today, looked dangerous early on buy faded in the game. Had an off day.

Godden - 7.5 - Did everything but score, aires class and quality on the ball and didnt stop running, making intelligent runs in behind several times. Extra credit goes to having his finger put back in place and carrying on.

O'Hare - 6 - looks a nice player and worked hard but didnt set the pitch alight in this cameo

Wakefield - 6 - Much the same as O'Hare, did his bit bur didnnt influence much.

Bakayoko - 6.5 - Worked hard off the ball and won the odd header up front, crucially won a header and blocked a Gills chance at the death.

Thought the very hot weather with Tuesdays heroics took a toll today.

We deserved the win, no doubt about it, wasn't our best performance but did the job and got the important 3 points.

Marosi 7.5 - did an early dodgy kick but made 2 good saves, one in in each half. Caught well and then passed very well.

McCallum 7 - to be thrown in at right back, did very well first half. A few good crosses in the box, few poorer moments 2nd half but overall thought he did well.

Rose 7.5 - Very calm and composed won headers.

Hyam 7.5 - got done by one long ball over the top in first half and again in second but rest of his game was good, what we expect from him. Got the winning goal.

Mason 7 - Same as McCallum really, very dependable now. Added to consistency to his game which he lacked last season.

Kelly 7.5 - was very good, always shows his value to the team. Without him we would be a lot weaker. Nothing spectacular but more often than not in the right places at the right times.

Westbrooke 6 - Did nice things, just didn't quite have as big of an impact as he has previously.

Shipley 6.5 - Similar to Westbrooke but put some good deliveries from set pieces in and got forward well in 2md half on coupld of occasions.

Hiwula 5.5 - one of the poorer games I have seen from him. Nothing atrocious and I expect him to drift in and out of games but he never really got in the game at all today.

Jobello 6.5 - showed some very good crossing today, looks a threat and unpredictable. Would like to see him knock it past his man and run, he has pace and when he did it he got fouled and got their player booked. More to come but when it does he will be a very important player.

Godden 7 - Really like the look of him. Got in good positions, won a really surprising amount of headers, looking to go in behind a constant threat. Great work rate.

Subs:

O'Hare 6.5 - Very lively, brought the tempo and energy we needed and lacked in that 2nd half. Comfortable on the ball, will create and score goals.

Bakayoko 5.5 - Didn't do much really, ran around.

Wakefield 6 - showed glimpses of his pace and trickery. Nice to see him out there.


Overall It is a very pleasing 3 points. Gillingham was awful In the first half and after our goal basically refused to close our back 5 and kelly down at all so the game them fell into a very slow rhythm which then was hard to get out of.

After the amazing comeback on tuesday betting 3 points today maked a great start to the season.

Exciting to think Allen is to come back, Kastaneer with another week of fitness, Dabo back in, O'Hare with more time with the team, potentially Wakefield as an option Biamiu getting fitter and a bit further down the line Jones, we have an exciting looking squad.

Everyone 6.5, did what we needed to reasonably well

I must have watched a different match to most of you today. First half we were very good, second half bang average at most against what I thought was a poor side.
Marisa 7 couple of good saves good distribution.
McCallum 6 good first half second poor control on several occasions.
Rose 7 solid performance good distribution.
Hyam 8 mom won most balls in the air good distribution.
Mason 6.5 not as good as he previous games but still solid.
Westbrooke 6 good first half second seemed to pass him by.
Kelly 7.5 Good leadership passing and breaking up most of what Gillingham tried to do.
Shipley 6.5 good first half second half not as impressive quite a few wayward passes.
Hiwula 5. First half seemed to be half asleep wasn’t in it much second half.
Jobello 7 some great crosses and had their left back in his pocket just wished he would have run st him a few more times as we would have played against 10.
Godden 7 selfless running for the team didn’t stop the whole time he was on. Had a chance early on which should have done better with but looks the real deal.
Subs all ok O’Hare looks as though he will make a difference once he’s settled in.
