It also seems that both Burge and Willis received advice from Meyler about moving to Sunderland.
A) What is Meylers love affair with Sunderland all about?
B) With his lack of input on the pitch, and his apparent head turning in the camp was this signing a bad one? Or am I being slightly unfair on him?

He was at Sunderland for a few years. I assumed the players who left were going whatever happened so them going to Sunderland in particular doesn't really bother me a great deal.

From what Robins said earlier in pre-season, it seems like he dragged his heels so they moved on, signed McFadzean and rescinded the contract offer. I thought he'd get a championship club, and I'm assuming he did too.

Robins mentioned it earlier that the contract offer was on the table until the end of the season and when it wasn't signed they shook hands after the last match and moved on.

• After a few hard days of thinking I have decided to retire from playing professional football. The injuries I sustained to my right knee have eventually caught up with me and I am left with no other option. It’s tough to take but I know deep down it’s the correct decision. I always knew this day would come but I never expected it to be so soon.
