ACLs aren’t as career threatening as they use to be, but they do require lengthy recuperation periods as we have seen with JJ and Max upto a year, I can’t remember reading exactly what JJs injury was, was it a reacurrance of the old one, a complication or something else, medial ligament for example, Still getting him back fit and upto speed will be like signing a new player, the thought of him fully fit and linking with Godden and O’Hare is potentially awesome.
The truth is they really do affect professional players. The stats I put on dan thread show only 60% are playing at the same level 3 years later

They recon its the mental side that effects their game and it take a long time to get over!

As i have said before watch that interview with that boring c**t Michael Owen he said he wanted to get on the end of balls but his injuries were always in the forefront of his mind so the mental side kept winning

Owen was a great player at the start but is a pretty third rate human being
Plenty of other players came back from serious injuries but retained their fortitude despite the weight of their wallet
Alan Shearer for example

Could excell in jobellos position

Lets pray hes the same
Yes that right hand side inside forward role pre injury jones would be perfect no reason he can’t do it my worry is mentally last time it wasn’t there then it happened again he can do it we’re all behind him I hope like all of us he can do it.

I’m sure the ACL is repaired with some of the hamstring on some people not sure on JJ but surely that will effect his pace if so.

Mentally last time we heard he didn’t like to put a challenge in in training & we could see he wasn’t mentally right now he’s done it again I think it will be a while until we see him

That’s right. My first graft was from my patella tendon and the next one was from my hamstring. My third one has stumped them though! I’d guess they used the same grafts in either order.

If it’s from the hamstring you can bet he’s not as fast then mate,I personally don’t think he will be the same player but I’m hopeful plenty of players have come back but last time he looked mentally all wrong add the stories about not putting challenges in training etc,

As better days has said he came back before he was ready (as his injury proved). I think you're exaggerating a little bit tbh, he just looked rusty but he was still playing the same way as he had before the injury.

Reports from training were he wasn’t interested in being involved with challenges people can say he comeback too early but who are they to judge if their not part of the coaching staff/physio team who would of deemed him fit & ready from watching him train and numerous fitness tests ? I hope we get the pre injury jones back Jobello will be in trouble if we do.

Interestingly in the US if you are a certain age they take the tissue for the ligament repair from a cadaver. Weird concept!

That’s not a bad idea. Same blood type I guess?

Just seen his Instagram 4 videos he’s put up today of training in and around the box latching on to balls against a Keeper, have to say he’s looking sharp has it been mentioned if he’s close to being back in full training any time soon ?

Close to full training, but still a couple months off first team action I believe

No need to rush him but 433 will suit his game. Lots of football for the u23s soon I hope. We need him back mentally and physically strong before we put him back into the first team. Hoping the come back goes well.

He will take Jobello place if he comes back anywhere near he was pre injuries for sure

I hope Jodi can come back somewhere near his previous best but you can’t underestimate the huge Phycological barrier he will need to get over after 2 serious injuries that have kept him out for so long. I’m not sure we will see the same Jodi Jones - figures crossed for the lad but let’s not heap too much pressure on him.

Makes sense - allograft (cadaver) ligaments have a high failure rate in young/active people. Older people (generally) less active so safer to use, and also makes sense to leave patella tendon/hamstring/quads tendons alone if possible to reduce trauma
