I mentioned this in one of the match threads. I assume the pitch is watered to help our slick passing game, but our players (moreso than the opponents) seem to slip and slide several times a game. I assume it's something to do with the length of stud, and possibly a lack of experience of playing at St Andrews (is the pitch perhaps softer than the Ricoh? Am I talking bollocks?)

This could also be a factor in the ACL discussion. The shorter studs may help in playing our way but enabling quicker passing and movement, but also causes more slipping extending the knee a bit more than is ideal. Do that repeatedly and eventually something is going to give.

Ffs Marisi against his old team, as he gets temporarily confused which side he's on, or a 4-3 win in a cracker of a match (still including 1x ffs Marosi for good measure!)

Why does it appear that every game we’re playing an amazing side we should be wary of.

We’re a good side, we’re officially the second best side in the league as it stands. Doncaster (and every other team) will be worried about us.

We play the high tempo passing football we are clearly capable of and we win comfortably. When we start to get nervous and sit back we look weak, but fortunately we’re seeing less of that as the season goes on.

I’d like Godden to have more support this game and players closer to him. I’d also like to see more from Jobello and confidence from Hiwula.

How many we expecting donny should bring 1k, would hope for top end of 6k+ city, depressing with what the crowd would of been at the Ricoh but is what it is.

I’ll be there with son (his first game at home) but I’m slightly concerned that we are starting to get off to slow starts recently and we do that Saturday we might come unstuck.

Dont have a good feeling about Saturday so would take a draw at the moment.

7,500 on Saturday

I expect a slow start again as has been the norm all season and even more so from a break. Hopefully don’t concede during that slow start. Can’t see us keeping a clean sheet at the moment, so I’m thinking 2-1.

Also been thinking about this Kelly thing you all head towards. Now don’t get me wrong he is extremely good at what he does, he reads the game generally well and I love how he always seems to manage to get himself between the ball and the opposition when challenging which invariably draws the foul. However for me we have to pick and choose when we play him and Walsh, I think Walsh is so much better than Kelly offensively. Kelly simply wouldn’t have been in the same area code for Walsh’s goal against the Dons. Feel we need to rotate these 2 judged on opposition, wondered what all your thoughts were?

Kelly is the first name on the team sheet for me.

For that reason alone I'm afraid I cannot humour your post.

Agree with you to an extent, for 90% of the game Kelly wouldn't have been marauding forward as Walsh did for that goal, however there was a matter of seconds left, the game had broken down and formations had gone out of the window, nothing to show that Kelly wouldn't have picked the ball up and driven forward at that point.

You could alternatively say that with Kelly's experience he wouldn't have given the penalty away that Walsh did.

Kelly plays when he's fit until/unless there becomes an obvious gulf in performances between him and Walsh. Good midfield headaches for Robins when all are fit.

Perhaps the referee will try and make amends for his Bolton performance - we will no doubt watch with interest. It will be interesting to see what Adge reckons re: potential for previous bad performance affecting decisions when refereeing the same team again. You would think it shouldn't affect, but....

At least we aren't playing the biggest charity case in the league. Unless he looks after old man Coppinger.

Disclaimer - I actually have massive respect for a man of his age still doing the business

My dads first game of the season this weekend, which usually id suggest a loss, and though the unbeaten run will come to an end at some point i dont feel like this will be it, i think we will win this 2-0. Donnys defence are good but i think we will break them down eventually and knick our standard late goal to finish it off.

According to the CT Mcshufty recons we going to lose! Put the headline up in the dressing room!

Screams of desperation to remain relevant.

I like him, he’s a nice guy and was a good player for us in his day, but Christ what’s the point. And it gives CT more negative ammunition against the club.

He's also on Quest this weekend - two of his previous clubs playing in one of his other previous clubs stadium. He is also a coach at Doncaster I believe which may just affect his thinking.

Will we get extended coverage on quest then this weekend maybe an extra 30 seconds?

A good start to the season is an essential factor for any team who wishes to challenge for promotion and taking points off rivals who are in and around the same fight is also something which will improve a sides odds of accomplishing that goal. This weekend sees two sides in League One who are fighting to be playing their football in the Championship next season face off as Coventry City welcome Doncaster Rovers to St Andrews.

It has been the perfect start to the season as far as Coventry fans who attend the home matches are concerned as the Sky Blues have won all five of their matches at their temporary home at St Andrews and although they do not quite hold top spot, they know that another three points at the weekend could well see them reach the summit of the division. The hosts feature highly in both the best defences and attack records in the division and on home soil they have kept a clean sheet in 60% of their matches, which means that the pressure is immediately on their opposition to keep them at bay.

The latest side to make the trip to the St Andrews is a Doncaster Rovers team who will have every reason to believe that they are strong enough to claim the three points this weekend. The visitors have been around the play-off picture in League One for a few seasons now and they are already well adept at taking points from difficult matches on their rivals patch. However, although they have only had two matches on the road so far this season, the fact that they have not claimed the win in either contest is a concern and is something which will need to be improved if they are to start climbing the league.

Doncaster Rovers certainly represent a tough challenge for Coventry but that home form is hard to ignore. The Sky Blues look near untouchable in front of their own fans at the moment and given that their hosts are yet to win away from home in three matches in all competitions this season, we think that backing a home win represents the best opportunity for a decent return.

Can't wait to see the boys back in action and cheer them on.. This break ahas been almost as bad as close season. Looking forward to it. PUSB

5-0. I wouldn't swap a slow start for a strong finish.

Bit nervous about this one, on their forum they seem to be comparing us now to the side they faced at the back end of last season. When our team was already on the beach.

It's going to be 2 or 3 - nil, just can't choose to who.

We're definitely a different proposition now.
Are they? I know they lost their main striker.
