I think bayliss would have made a difference today anyone think we are starting to miss him now?

I see where you are going with this Higgs.
I'm admittedly a big fan of 10 Bags Bayliss but to be honest I see O'Hare in the attacking midfield role as more than making up for Tom's departure. I do think playing O'Hare out of position today was perhaps not the right decision this time around.

The game against pompey last season with bayliss Kelly jordy bright breaking the lines it looked more threatening than how we are set up this season

Just reliving that hiwula miss in the second half. What I don't understand is why he's going for the corner when 75% of the goal is open. Every time hiwula opens up on his right and rolls it a bloody inch past the post. His accuracy for that is unbelievable. Hit the fucker on target next time. Cost me £125 bet return as well

Should of scored both chances ok the first was the harder of the two but that second one is a disgrace how on earth has he bent it past the post...

How long do we persist with this shocking finishing he’s giving ???

I'm the same, that's not a bigger problem is it, that's just poor finishing by 2 players.
Take a look at our goal difference figure this season (+1, lowest of top 10 teams)) and then take a look at it at the conclusion of last season (zero, lowest of top 9 teams) and then decide if there isn't a bigger problem.

Bolton, Tranmere and Southend have conceded 78 goals between them this season. We managed to put 1 past them. The only team Tranmere have kept a clean sheet against this season, aside from us, is Bolton’s kids.

We must put chances away. MR's picked the wrong players today. Kelly shoud have starte alonside Walsh protecting the back four and allowed the wing backs to maraud forward at every opportunity to get crosses into the box for Godden and the on running O'Hare or Hiwula. Just wasn't the right team selection. Could all have been different had one gone in but for all the possession we really lacked direction in the 18 yard box. It's all very well coming out in a nice bright new kit and think you will win. MR's must find the right combination of team selection. Can't wait to seee this Allen guy and the difference he may bring instead of relying on the likes of Shipley, Westbrooke et al.
A must win next game now or heads will drop.

The problem is that Allen has been majorly hyped up and is going to need time to adjust and may not actually be as good as some seem to want to believe.

He’s a decent player but the way some have gone on you’d think pulled off a coup and signed a CL winner.

Good point - you should start a thread about it !

just inside - the handball was blatant, so that is 2 penalties we were denied yet again
“Just inside” with the help of a still/picture. The referee sees it in real time and at the time on the box I thought it was just outside. He has to be 100% sure that it is a Pen and he wasn’t which is why it was on the edge. No argument that it was a foul though. :)

I was disappointed by this result. It is like deja vue for CCFC. Tranmere worked hard but lets be honest they are not that good. But fair play to them they dug in, were organised, fought hard, rode their luck and were ruthless in front of goal when they got the chance. But despite their grit ,19 shots with one on target from CCFC says it all. In front of goal CCFC are at the moment out of sorts - and that is not just laying the blame on the forwards, all of the outfield players could potentially score. But the worry is that it is not a new problem

There are positives
CCFC controlled the ball well through out
We created plenty of opportunities
the new Kit looked great
Dabo was the stand out for me, but Walsh and Shipley did well
They all worked hard, and it was good to see the team spirit

The negatives
we lost - obviously
pretty football is great to watch but there needs to be an end product. We seem to want to score the good looking goals, but scruffy goals count just as much
Whilst the strikers seem to lack the edge the fact that we do not score enough goals is down to the whole team not just the strikers
The football looked good but at times needs to be a little quicker or more direct. the two are not mutually exclusive
we didnt really test the keeper that much, despite 19 shots
The defence still seems unassured and with a mistake waiting to happen. The Rose back pass to Marosi was an example
The penalty claims should not have mattered, we should have had enough without those claims

Not a crisis, we are still in the mix but perhaps this season will not be as easy as some predicted

When the Tranmere player made the foul he was outside of the box. One of Godden's feet was in the box. They analysed it on Sky.

"A penalty kick is awarded when a foul punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area."

No penalty.

So a good decision by the referee even at full speed/one look and no slow motion or still to view. But lets not bother with that if he got it right......

Godden was equally as wasteful.
