Missing chances is irrelevant

He clearly has attributes and make of of a striker - strength and reasonable speed as well as awareness to get into a position to have chances

Bakayoko has none of these basic attributes

that's clearly not true.
Look at his some of his goals against Charlton, involved in the build up and showed strength and determination to get on the end of crosses in the 6 yard box.
Walsall, great run in between two defenders and powerful header.
Fleetwood, anticipating the back pass and chasing it down for a lucky deflected goal.
Good running, movement and finishes against Peterboro and Mackems.
He has the attributes but just doesn't use them enough which probably makes his performances even more unacceptable.

Agree with the against better opposition / away from home comment, really don’t want us to have Shipley wide as a Plan A though. I don’t really want is Plan B, C, D or E either but we’re looking desperately short of optiond

Quoting a couple of instances in a year and a half surely does prove it.

I always remember an old manager telling me that there are stacks of players in non league football that are more talented than a lot of the league players but there for a reason and one of them is they can’t produce performances week in week out. Contributing factors are they may not be bright enough and think that once a month is enough to play well or they are just plain simply mentally lazy.

I’ll not mince my words Bakayoko is a non league player that’s been bloody lucky to get a pro career so far but he won’t much longer if he doesn’t want/won’t produce constant performances.

People going on likes it’s a science at the minute and looking for different formulas.
The bottom dollar is the strikers are not putting it in the onion bag-that is all that is wrong.

It proves he has it in him to do it. Getting him to do it consistently is the conundrum. I feel he's probably got a month to show he can or his city career will be over.

We had the chance to let him go to Bristol we decided not too I’m sure his contract is finished end of this season

Couldn’t of agreed more. Who ever scouted him must have got players mixed up and was to embarrassed to admit it when bakayoko turned up at the training ground!

Hmm of the striekrs at the club on his day I think he is the best finisher at the club!

Above Godden, certainly above the wasteful Hiwula and the rest of our squad are hardly potent in fron of goal!
I still think there is something in him but he is soooo frustrating - I also think playing him in a 2 would not be a bad shout.
Him and Hiwula as a front two I think coukd still be interesting if Godden injured!

In terms of finishing yes I do think he is one of the best finishers at the club and is reasonably clinical in front of goal.
Curious to hear who people think in the squad currently are better finishers particularly given recent displays in front of goal.

I think it is his work rate, inconsistency & all round game that causes this issues - on finishing alone I think he is one of the best we have at the club
make of that what you will - I think we need another clinical striker and could also play two up top arguably!

The goals against Charlton came when he was a late second half sub, playing against knackered defenders who were already struggling to cope with a city team that were throwing the kitchen sink at them. Apart from a lucky ricochet and a half decent header he's done fuck all in the year since that Charlton game.

Yes the ricochet was lucky, but he got the break by anticipating the back pass and breaking a gut to chase it down. Should have won a penalty against Luton doing the same thing. Also scored good goals against the mackems and Peterborough. And tired defence or not, the Charlton goals were quality with him involved in the build up.

He has it in him, he just doesn't use it anywhere approaching enough. I'm not defending him, just pointing out that he does have the ability, as confirmed by MR.

In many ways, having the ability but not showing it, is the biggest reason to bin him. It shows a lack of effort for his team mates and a disrespect for the club, manager and fans.
Its clear to see that MR has lost patience with the guy, and is only using him due to injuries and a lack of options. Come January we should look to offload Baka, Biamou and Ponticelli (if Robbins dosnt fancy him) and bring in a couple of strikers who can play with or off Godden.

I agree, lets hope Robins latest salvo stirs something in him though I won't hold my breath.

What I don’t get is when we had sides come in for Biamou & Baka why we didn’t look to off load them ?

Agreed January get rid of the 3 of them and use wages elsewhere

Well he seems to have settled on this 4-3-3 so he should base his thinking around that.

But the decision to not just sign chaplin but to pursue him for so long when he knew he'd be playing a one up top system was a bizarre decision.
