After joining city there is no denying that he had a slow start here... I can understand that fans became frustrated with him and his praise by many was unjust.

HOWEVER

In his last 24 games for city in all competitions he's scored 10 goals in 24 games

Obviously this goes back to the league 2 season because of injury but the reality is these are his last 24 game stats add his assists too and to me he's giving us a good return now, and don't quite fully understand the snide comments towards him albeit by the minority.

Long story short, slow start, shit return... Improved Alot

In his last 24 games for city in all competitions he's scored 12 goals in 24 games or if we discount the 3 last night (which I see no reason too) it's 9 in his last 23 games which is 18 over a season.

You call the comments snide, I’d call them realistic.

I’d be interested in you opinion of Bakayoko, Hiwula and Kastaneer.

Evo I’m not sure your stats are correct r.e excluding the Southampton game?

I’ve gone over 30 games and he’s scored 7 in that time.

To get to 9 goals it’s 40 games

I like him Evo always puts a shift in was part of the promotion winning side he’s not a 20 goal a season man but in a 2 with Godden I think it works

Best striker at the club and I dont get the hatred from some especially Grendel. Hes scored important goals, more consistent than Baka, Hiwula and Godden.
Always gives 100% and yet some just like to have a boo boy

Not bakas biggest fan although I was willing to give him time, is more involved in a 2 so will see how he gets on now, but he missed some guilt edged chances Saturday.

Hiwula clearly has ability, he gave us a decent return last season but has been bang out of form this year.

Kastaneer has been dissapointing, I'm hoping Robins can help him turn it around ... Maybe game time

My issue with Baka is he doesn’t even look like a footballer he’s an absolute pussy also struggles with the basics I’ve seen better players on a Sunday than him

I don't necessarily disagree, but sadly we have to use him now more than we'd like too.. Hopefully he finds something and scores a couple over the next few games.. Cant see it but you never know

Odd you’ve tried to start it as well with the Newport goal and ignored the prior 10 games when he didn’t score at all

I use soccer stats, in his last 24 games in all comp its 10.

We have 3 conflicting stats here

Shocker :)

It would be odd if I didn't say he started here slowly, but I did say that... So that's when his form improved, which is what the post is about... So it's not actually that odd

You're odd ;)

Can i ask though why we exclude the Southampton game?

Harry Kane etc get all their goals added even if they played a league 2 side in the cup etc.. Surely it's still viable?

You should get more scoring opportunities against a weaker side but they still have to be converted into goals.

His record in league 1 is:
Played 6
Scored 1
Red cards 1
Matches banned 3
Hardly impressive if you extrapolate it.

I think he started slowly in his first few games in League 2. I think his full debut was against Blackburn in the League Cup and he seemed way of the pace. However, even though he wasn’t scoring after those first few games he was playing well and contributing to the team. No doubt these comments will be greeted with scorn by the usual suspects. Amazing that the manager who got us promoted obviously saw something in him and persisted in playing him. Someone who has the technique to score the goals he does does not deserve to be written off without the chance to prove himself.

As usual there is the people who are ridiculously anti-max and those who are ridiculously pro-max. The reality is it is somewhere in between. I’m unsure how someone has declared Biamou better than Godden after a few games in a new system when he has scored more in a league one season than max has at any level. The OP has used stats (unsure how correct they are) that show his more recent form which is over a substantial period but as Grendel suggested you can’t just forget 10 games he went without scoring, the statistic is biased. And yes Harry Kane might inflate his goal tally against league 2 teams, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a ‘better’ striker. Max took his two goals really well last night, (I know it’s not a given but I expect any professional to score a penalty) and should be applauded for that, he can only score against what is in front of him and he did substantially more of it than anyone else in our team. However, again you can’t forget it was against an u21 team. He’s been praised as if he’s Messi since. I love the idea of backing all our players, but there needs to be a sense of reality at the same time. If you asked me to bet, I would probably bet against, but I hope max smashes in 20 this season, we all should! If he doesn’t and shows his qualities in his team play, again he should be applauded, but there’s so much hyperbole from one side and overly harsh criticism from the other, it makes this forum tedious. Someone makes one observation about a player and you have some typing ‘lol he’s shit’ and some making out god. Calm down folks. Not everything has to be sensationalised.

Godden and Biamou will be a decent strike force in this league.
Godden was crying out for a partner to play off and is wasted in a 4-3-3, Max is far better than Baka.
If Godden returns in Jan, I can see 20-25 goals between them to the end of the season.

Reading the thread it's clear stats can be manipulated to suit your perspective. However in support of Evo many people when talking about a player will say 10 goals in 20 games even if they had 0 in 100 games beforehand. The reason is because it represents a players current form. It's hard to deny with the hat trick and the impact in the previous two games max is very much on form.
