No, it wasn't offside...Saw somebody say it wouldn't have counted if he put it in....
Don't know where that came from... lino didn't flag for offside and game played on.....

3 points and luckily it didn;t cost us. Whilst he is thee only striker we have available, he's going to have to lead the line, Perhaps he saving it all for Sunderland!

I thought the Lino put his flag up a fraction later when Rochdale cleared the ball. Looking at screen shot though Baka was not offside.

Actually having watched it back lino was flagging for a throw in for clearance. !

Even the best strikers miss easy opportunities sometimes.
Ronnie Rosenthal mentioned above as an example - he was an elite striker in an elite Liverpool team. When that Liverpool team ran riot and beat us 6-0 at home or something similar; Rosenthal was simply unplayable.
In our team this season, Godden has missed golden chances with little comment. Similarly O'Hare. They are very good players. These things happen. Hiwula is also guilty of missing key chances - again the derision levels are low vs. the miss for Baka.
Our own defenders this season have made critical errors - back passes/stupid penalties and the reaction has not been hysterical.
Interestingly Baka's outstanding finish to rescue a point against Doncaster received far less praise vs. the hugely critical reaction to this week-end's miss.
Was it a bad miss? Yes. Is the derision over the miss fair to the player or helpful to anyone? I certainly don't think so. Time to move on/draw a line under this and support Baka and the lads. To keep winning with 7 of our key players missing is fantastic.

Remember Whelan missing one vs Sheff United in the fa cup quarter final at Highfield Road that not in my wildest dreams would I have thought he'd miss. Being my absolute idol at the time. No idea now how bad it was. Will have to seek out the highlights

I agree with you Nick.
I wasn't that baffled though by the reaction. I swear there were 2-3 on here who 'celebrated' Baka's miss much more than they would a City goal.
They seem determined to write some of our players off and given their bias could not be more delighted when those players 'fcuk up.' Baka is a really decent lad and offers something to this team - in a 2 with Max or off the bench (see Doncaster and Charlton). Let's get behind Baka and give him our full support. Those who prefer to deride and ridicule - says more about them in my view.

I shouldn't think anyone on here who is a true supporter would want Baka to miss open goals but the real truth is he aint very good, well not for us anyway atm. The problem is he performs well for 1 match then disappears for the next half dozen or more, now if we are to stand any chance of promotion we need someone to start performing on a regular basis.
When Baka first signed for us Walsall fans were celebrating at getting rid of him, now thats at least 2 lots of fans that don't rate him but while he is here if he manages to score I will celebrate and possibly also celebrate when he leaves us too!

Agreed Steve. I certainly don't classify anyone on here who greeted Baka's miss with such undisguised joy as a true supporter. And I will continue to call them out on it.
It seems to me that Baka was on a hiding to nothing when he joined because some Walsall fans didn't rate him (obviously they know better than our professional scouts) and he wasn't the long awaited signing everyone was hoping for (Chaplin). I personally don't think Baka has been a disaster in any way and his partnership with Max looks promising. Let's get behind the lad and see what happens.

O'Hares was in a cup game against lower league opponents when already 2-0 up and from a player that has had a positive impact on games more often than not. Baka's was in a league game poised at 1-1 when we were chasing a goal and he's been middling to poor most of the season.

O'Hare flatters to deceive plays a different role so not as directly in the firing line flits in and out has missed some glaring chances worse than Baka
but is a fans favourite so massively overrated.
Baka underrated but not to the level O'Hare is overrated....simples really!
Do think best way to get best out of Baka is to encourage and not berate him shame many others don't.
I also agree thought him and Max looked good in a front two vs Peterborough personally!

At least O'Hare was positioned facing the goal at the time he took the shot. Bakayoko was only ever set up to miss due to his body position, which as a striker is pretty basic stuff.

With Baka we have seen him finish well at times unfortunately those times are few and far between, unless, when Max is back, he hits the ground running I can see Robins bombing him out if we get anyone stupid enough to take him

For sure but he is low in confidence and he is what we have currently I think he needs arm round the shoulder as opposed to abuse.
If O'Hare was in the right position does that not make his miss worse than Baka's if lined up ideally?
I quite liked Max and Baka up top all be it only for one and a bit games - be good to see them back together when Max is back and give them a run of games
together as a front two before writing either one off!
