But in a democracy when you are hoping to get the support from the general public to be prime minister one would hope and expect you would put yourself forward for scrutiny and questions on both your policy and your personal integrity.

It's ridiculous. The public are being kept away from Johnson at stage managed appearances. There's even journalists tweeting about how little access they can get to him. He refused the debate on C4 and is now wavering on the BBC. This after weeks of finding excuses to pass the PMQs baton to someone else.

Half of the Conservative front bench seems to have vanished, when did anyone last see Rees-Mogg?! Meanwhile they send out Nicky Morgan, who isn't standing for re-election, to do the media rounds on the manifesto launch.

This should be the easiest campaign ever for the Conservatives. They've been in power for a decade so should be able to reel off a list of their achievements and just say 'more of the same'.

Come on, you know that’s not true it Dave, Labour should be double digits ahead in the polls after ten years in opposition (a proportion of which were post financial crisis so there were going to be significant cuts under either party) and the mess/paralysis from Brexit (basically nothing’s happened for three years)

The fact is, whether people want to accept this or not, Labour would be in a far stronger position under a different leadership. I certainly would’ve been willing to consider them as an option but no chance under Corbyn/McDonnell, together with some of the bizarre election pledges (shame as there’s some important/vote winning stuff on there as well) And that’s saying something when you look at the state of the Tories !

To say I’m disillusioned with politics in this country is an understatement

ps in terms of Neil interview, it’s disappointing Johnsons not on it but I have to be honest, if it was me, Id probably avoid, especially after last night....I’m gutless I know !!

The measures of old are over. This notion that under a different leader Labour would be off into the distance is simply not true. If another Labour leader and fronted up the same manifesto, then the same character assassination would be taking place, the same written press bias and the same propaganda bollocks from the BBC.
Admittedly Corbyn has other things from his past political endeavours that make him an easier target, but they went after Miliband who would have been receptive to a similar manifesto (had he not been so poorly advised) and they tore him to shreds.

This is not about Corbyn, McDonnell, Labour or anyone else. The reality is that the current leadership pose a threat to the ‘establishment’ that has ruled this country for the last 40 years. If they didn’t then it wouldn’t take every bit of energy and vitriol to lambast a supposedly inept man and his wacky regime.

If you prefer your Labour Party to be an off shoot of the Tories that’s fine. If that happens expect them to return 150 MP’s if they are lucky.

Incredibly simplistic to say "They should be this" when we're going into an election where the outcome is heavily predicated on a party's Brexit position, because we've got a whole demographic of voters who have been led to believe is goose with the golden egg.

You just can’t say where Labour should be. Corbyn isn’t great for sure, but there’s a reason he’s won two leadership contests (there’s very little talent in either party right now).

Tories were out of government for 13 years and failed to get a majority after the crash. Brexit has polarised people into two big camps more recently. The only way anyone gets ten points ahead is if, like the Tories, they’ve got one sides votes in the bag and the other side are split.

Should Labour be doing better? Of course. Is Corbyn a drag? Of course. Is there a magical better leader waiting in the wings? Not really.

Labour have a real issue. The left was strangled at birth by Blair and then the Blairites fucked it up so now we have a centrist party with a left wing membership. As I’ve said before Tories have even bigger problems once Brexit stops being the hot button issue. Their voter coalition is just as fragile.

Interesting times.

BBC correspondent just said on the news that this will not be anything other than one side saying it is being discussed (true - but between officials...as-in it is simply a wishlist ahead of any trade negotiations) IF Brexit is done, the negotiations will being initially at Ministerial level where both parties will draw red lines. So saying 'cast iron' it is not up for discussion might also be true.
And remember British companies & our economy would benefit from patent life extension (which was said to be one of the more significant items on the list) too...which feeds our economy, & keeps jobs

Even the comments at the bottom say it’s hysteria. The document has been on the labour website for 6 weeks and it’s hilariously got for uk eyes only on the cover when handed out. It says nothing and has no proof of any arrangement. Corbyn only wins against Johnson on the NHS in every other measure he is behind so inevitably he will try and get traction but how can he reveal something that has been available for 6 weeks?

And something that the US Pharma industry has lobbied for for many years with governments of all persuasion. And they will keep doing so. They want it on the agenda for trade talks, simple as that. Arguably, an extended patent life means the price of drugs comes down as the producer has longer to recoup costs.
