I don't agree whatsoever that Robin's should go but there are some issues for me that need to be sorted out.

I mentioned these when we failed to beat Southend and Bolton but many fans were just quick to blame the officials.

Our strikers aren't good enough generally, so when we create enough chances they don't put them away. Equally there are then games where we set up with just one and they are isolated. The final third needs some work if we are serious about promotion. That's personnel and tactics.

We definitely need to play 2 up front imho,
But there's no getting away from the fact that we've got some fucking shite strikers.

I'm not on board with a lot of what Grendel has said but the money issue is a red herring.
There are several forwards in the league 1 leading scorers who cost less than Bakayoko let aĺone Godden
Constantly bad signings then or coaching JCH & Chaplin point towards the latter ?

I think that today’s performance was really concerning. We started very slowly but then got into the game, and were in control for 30 minutes or so, during which time we scored an excellent goal, but I can’t remember us creating any chances during that period of dominance. Just before half time, however, the momentum changed, they started to press us effectively, and I was pleased to hear the half time whistle. The second half was more of the same, we had no control, our passing was poor, and their goal was so predictable, particularly after we wasted that golden chance to go 2 up. Their second goal was also predictable, as was our defeat to a late goal. I didn’t really see much evidence of leadership on the pitch to turn things round.

Although Max is our best target man, his hold up play today was non existent, he hardly won a ball all afternoon. Looking at Robin’s team selection, I thought today cried out for Westbrooke, the best ball retaining midfielder we have. I would have brought on O’Hare as an impact sub, a role he plays superbly. I’m not sure that 4/5/1 is our best formation, Max was isolated, perhaps when Godden is fully fit, he will play him off the target man. And I’m guessing that Jamie Allen will improve as his match fitness improves. The conditions didn’t help, and although it’s the same for both teams, conditions can disadvantage the football playing side - can be a leveler.

I know this post is a bit of a downer, but we’re currently outside the play off places, and I think most of us would think we have good enough players to be pushing for automatic promotion - if we can address our chronic lack of goals. I also think that Robins is the man to take us forward, we try to play good football which is a plus, but we also need to toughen up, because most teams we play against try to rough us up and disrupt our play, and the referees in this league aren’t able to address it.

Need to win next week, hopefully the more games our returning players play, the better we’ll become.

If I could have your attention

There are times when the club in a season reaches a cross roads

To me this season that is today. I previously started a thread on the same vein with Mowbray and was proved right as the car crash unfolded

In many areas the club has some could players who could make this a successful season.

We criminally lack any forwards who top 6 teams would want or we get the goals to dry up. Biamou, Bakayoko and Hiwula are duds. Godden finds the Robins way and stops scoring. Clarke Harris and Chaplin escape the Robins way and start scoring

Only team to have no away wins, pitiful goals difference and embarrassing number of goals scored - a team in the drop zone with 5 wins versus our 7

It is still possible to turn the season around. A different style and crucially new forwards. The rest of the team is competitive and capable

Like Ipswich we are slumping.

What do we do? Stick or twist?

The taxi is warming up and needs to be heading to Birmingham unless a change of approach and personnel is adopted soon
What are you suggesting?

This constant boom or bust after every win or loss is bizarre. It’s a long season and we have the opportunity to strengthen in Jan. we are one or two players away from a very strong side. How come this taxi wasn’t running on Tuesday ?
He wouldn’t want to pay for the taxi from Ipswich. Way too expensive.

like others have said it’s not the end of the world. But for some disgraceful refereeing today we’d have won today.

Indeed, let's entertain this Adrian Durham lite post. Grendel, who is the man to take us into the championship if not Robins with the current squad?

Yawn

Not Robins' biggest fan and he was certainly to blame today.

But, on Tuesday it was one of the best first half displays I've seen in years. This side is very close to being a good team.

Our forwards aren't good enough, that is a fact.

Still no answers then?

I oddly would not me part of an interview process

Do you believe Raneira should have been sacked at Leicester? Man City are discussing it.

If you believe 19th is acceptable over the last 10 games then so be it.

Guess you think the players are some of the worst in the league

I rate the players better than you

You rate the manager better than the players

With all the instability surrounding the club. Not playing in Cov etc. I think our current league position is fine. I expect to get some wins at home in the coming weeks. I'd be disappointed if we don't get 9 points from the next 4 league games. However you are ready to pull the trigger, you must have someone in mind to come in who can improve on the man who got us promotion for the first time in over 50 years and won the checkatrade with an absolute abomination of a squad.

You are calculating a league table over 10 games but exclude some of Bakayoko's goals from his stats if he comes on as a sub. Behave yourself

Russell Slade got the club to the final with an abomination of a squad

guess he was a genius

No - managers you need to know when have exceeded shelf life

It was a cup replay though, we simply had to win. Tuesday's first half was a glimpse of what it would be like if we really went out to win games I think.

Robins is a paint by numbers manager when it comes to matchday. We won on Tuesday so kept the same team and tactics. We could easily (and should have) put fresh legs into today's line up. Mason and Westbrooke for example would not have weakened the side at all today.

I don't think we will ever get automatically promoted under Robins, he's just not brave enough or dynamic enough to get the amount of wins needed. We've scored 2 goals this season in the opening 15 minutes of the 20 games we've played and we have just 5 wins out of 66 matches back in L1 where we have won by a margin of 2 goals. That's 20 of our 25 wins by a single goal. Teams are never ever out of the game when they play us - it would be a monumental effort to get promoted under those circumstances.

I’d imagine the forward line will be strengthened in January with a couple of additions coming in. I’ve heard very reliably that their are issues with Bakayoko at the club and I very much doubt he will be with the club next season if not January. Hiwula is another that I’m sure if they could offload in January or send out on loan to free wages up will be another out the door.

This kind of thing is so unintelligent. Let's not pretend that Robins is some sort of Messiah and there are no better managers out there. He's not yet at a position to be sacked but if it were to happen we could end up with someone better (or conversely another Russell Slade).

I actually think Robins would make a better Director of Football. He's done some really good work improving the setup of the club and, along with Badlan, has been involved with some decent signings. Tactically he's not great though. Doesn't manage games well and when we do win/play well it seems more luck than judgment.

I dont want Robins gone but even Stevie Wonder can see we need more fire power up front.

I'll jusge Robins after January's transfer window. We need at least one striker in on loan and try to fit in the proven L1 striker Godden in our side how he was a Peterborough.

There are problems for me and I hope robins is the man to sort them. Some are this season especially but some are ongoing in this spell at the club:

Game management: when losing with 10 to go we are good, find a second wind and really push for a goal. When we are ahead though it is a different story; defend far too deep, don’t have an outlet ball and allow teams to pressure us till we cave in. I wouldn’t be surprised if we aren’t both the highest scorers and conceders (not a word I know) in injury time. When ahead, especially away, we need to be more savvy as time ticks away.

Inability to put teams away: strikers just aren’t scoring enough. By now I would have expected with the team we have and the football we play that we would have stuffed a couple of teams. But I just can’t see us scoring more than 1 and maximum 2 in a game. With robins, a top striker, I expect more from his work with strikers. Other clubs won’t queue up in January for max, Baka or Godden ... but we need to buy someone who will be on the scoresheet once every three games.

Sloppy goals conceded: I know all teams occasionally concede soft goals but we seem to be masters of this. Macfadzean always has a mistake in him...even when playing well. Dabo, my favourite player this season, also has a mistake a game. We have moved from a back four to a three then back again. I think we looked better with 3 defensively.

Playing at St. Andrews: I love the pitch and the experience BUT we need to be playing in cov for the future of this club. Outside robins hands...but if we don’t go up this season crowds will dwindle. The owners etc need to realise this and act on it. Either promotion or a move home is necessary. (Both would be heaven).

Players: all are giving their all and I only have an issue with the ability (not effort) of the strikers. I think both our left backs will go on to higher things and I hope we can keep them here for another year but I fear one or both might be poached by bigger clubs in January or the summer

Substitutes: Robins is very conservative and tends not to change things except if forced to (eg hyam’s injury couple weeks ago led to system change). I would like to see more changes earlier to adapt quickly to changing situation in the match.

I don’t think robin’s time with us is running out just yet but he can do things to make promotion more likely and he must become more proactive during games

It’s tough because he has changed lots of things at the club that have directly or indirectly been the result of our general upturn since his arrival.

The problem is though I think he’s more often than not tactically out thought and stubborn as fuck refusing to changing things when it’s not working (well...hopefully it’s stubbornness not blindness!).

So as a few others have said maybe he would be better doing everything but the team selection and tactics? Is that possible?

All I know is that if he keeps doing what he’s doing we can miss promotion goodbye.

The post is that it's a turning point in our season. The post isn't we should turn to someone else. If you mean who else is there, I can create a list if you'd really like.
