Strikers (12 Viewers)

For what it's worth, the lack of confidence among the strikers is a concern, Jordi Hiwula is the most obvious one. He's got the ability but if you gave him a free shot at an open goal 2 yards out I don't know if he'd back himself to score. I do think we need a bit of a sea change come Jan. Try and offload Baka and Hiwula and get even just one decent striker in. Someone like Danny Rose, don't know if Eoin Doyle is a possiblity but he is banging them in. Possibly a championship loan.

I'd try and stick to 3-5-2, not play Walsh and Kelly in the same team because they are too similar but I prefer Kelly in the role. I wouldn't abandon the footballing philosophy we've had this season though. We just need more pressure in the final third, I think Allen will help with this.

Agree with Kelly & Walsh being similar

However, you then get ridiculous overreactions from the likes of Grendel and Dom who lose sight of the bigger picture. .

So saying it isn't good enough is an over reaction? I said he shouldn't be sacked but we need to improve.... hardly fucking losing sight of the bigger picture

The issue you have is there are genuine questions that need asking. Why are we so negative when we go ahead? Why have we won one game all season by more than a 1 goal margin? Why doe we have the longest winless away league form in the country? However, you then get ridiculous overreactions from the likes of Grendel and Dom who lose sight of the bigger picture. I am as frustrated as anyone at the aforementioned questions, but do I think getting rid of Robins at this stage is a good idea, absolutely not. There has to be balance, with football fans there very rarely is.

What is the bigger picture?

@GaryMabbuttsLeftKnee Quote where i have said i want Robins out and am overreacting
To be fair I thought you had been more scathing in the other thread unless you have deleted some comments. However, you liked Grendels post about taxi warming up and then you did your usual overreact at everything with this:
"Him and Allen were the only players that can take any credit today, rest were absolute dog shite". - which probably tainted my perception of what you had said on the other thread.

We're still 7th. Are still very much in the mix for promotion in very difficult circumstances. You keep banging on about the 20% win ratio in the last ten, but within those ten games were Ipswich at home, Sunderland away, Rotherham away and Peterborough away. None of which are games I would be expecting us to win.

I don’t see having the luxury of spending over a million on a strike force that difficult

Hardly over reacting they were the only players who could take credit from the game, I don't want robins sacked and i think if he gets Jan right we will go up however we aren't winning enough or scoring enough goals at this moment

So the likes of Sunderland, Peterborough, Ipswich, Rotherham, Fleetwood and Portsmouth haven't all spent more than that on strikers, whether in wages (McNulty) or transfer fees, Grigg, Eisa, Jackson etc?

It’s irrelevant. The fact is he’s had more options than any other manager since relegation

there is one big picture - promotion - and that is the only thing that matters - this is a wide open league this season and second place is there for the taking - he’s recruited several strikers and the only two who’ve scored goals are the two who have left the club

It isn't irrelevant at all. How can comparing budgets with clubs we are competing with be irrelevant when you say the conditions aren't difficult?

I haven’t got a clue what the budgets are - the fact is this is the first season for a long time that’s not been dominated by relegated championship teams

Wycombe, Blackpool and Bristol Rovers are in contention as are Oxford

This has the makings of Mowbray Mark 2 all over again

Ainsworth tactically is a far better managed than Robins

Relegation? You are going to have to narrow that one down.

If we don’t get promoted this year then I fear long term 3rd div or worse football

we are not scoring enough and giving away a lead away from home , given the off the pitch issues it’s vital we have success this season , MR needs to go that extra mile to secure a win or at least not lose from a winning position

Why for pointing out that if someone falls they will get the boot? Hilarious you made a smug comment whose widely been rumoured to be out by the end of the year

The only speculation of him leaving is him resigning / quitting. Not getting the sack.

It’s generally regarding amongst City fans that might be a good thing. I hate to break to you as well but as a manager his record is a little bit better than Robins

Ok so he's got us promoted from league two and up in the promotion shout with those resources. If Ainsworth is tactically superior, why have we beaten them everytime we've played them in the league over the last 4 meetings?

Promotion from league two given our resources was hardly a massive achievement and now is irrelevant

I guess the Wolves manager in the early 80’s was a tactical genius when they won at Anfield in a relegation season against the champions

Just saying that if Ainsworth was so tactically astute that maybe he could have achieved a point out of Robins Coventry City. You've deflected into Wolves from the 80's, well done you are turning into SBK. Anyhow, I hope if things go to shit you feel really great about coming back to your 'hear me out' post and saying I told you so. After all, I'm sure thats all it's about.

Comparing robins to Pep ? One has won how many trophies compared to robins ? Lol slightly different mate

No, I wasn’t comparing Robins to Pep. It’s called an analogy. Good job I didn’t go with the big fish in a small pond analogy otherwise that would’ve really confused you. “Comparing Robins to a fish?!? They’re nothing like the same!?!”

You’ve missed the point again mate. Maybe time to log off for a bit and have a little lie down.

One has spent a billion pounds/euros on players in the last 8 years, the other one has not.
One has a back room staff of 38 the other has 4
Guess which one is the more succesful

It's all relative though isn't it.

Obviously Guardiola or Klopp have a better record than Robins.

It's like comparing Liam Kelly to N'Golo Kante.

I think the point made by some is robins won’t be able to take us up which has always been a worry for me tactically he’s not great if he went who replaces him though,I just want us to go and put the lesser teams to bed not try nick 1-0s most weeks againt garbage sides as end getting turned over...I don’t see it suddenly changing

Then it was an absurd analogy so why use it? I have put forward several coherent arguments regarding Robins management

You have mentioned the most successful manager in world football and believe this is a fitting analogy - you then laughably question my intellect and have in defence of Robins tub thinking rhetoric with zero statistical analysis

You have no points. That’s the frustration- just emotion and seemingly a lack of understanding

At least under Mowbray the goals flowed before he bombed
