I understand that there is a sliding scale for league position which doesn't include TV rights, and all the other add ons etc

I think Parachute payments apply to relegated teams not promoted ones. Not too sure what the prize money is but sky pay between 100-140k per TV game to the home team and around 10k for the away team

Every Championship club gets separate payments from the PL of £2.3 and £4.5 million respectively, total £6.8 million. As stated above TV revenue varies between £100-140 k per home game with £10k for every away game. There does not seem to be the same bonus for higher league positions that exist in the PL but in practice going higher up the league means more TV appearances so a higher return that way.

Parachute payments have changed in their structure so that you get:

£46 million in Season 1
£38 million in Season 2
£17 million in Season 3 if you were in the PL for more than 1 season before getting relegated. It doesn't matter if you flit between L1 and the Championship.

Sunderland are in Season 3...

Over £100m if you stay up for two seasons in the Prem. What a fucking joke that is.

If you were SISU you would try and stay in the Prem for one season playing championship players on £15k a week and you will get not only £100m just for getting to the Prem but another £80m for the inevitable relegation!

Huddersfield took an approach not far off from that and used the cash to spend on facilities. Plus they stayed up a season longer than anyone thought so they get more cash in the third season too. Some of their fans will argue the money was wasted though

Think we all know that if we did make it to the Championship we would most likely come straight back down.
It’s not like the Championship when Thorn took us down and we just couldn’t compete with players changing hands for 6-7-8 million pounds.
Guess we could try and cross that bridge if we ever get to it.

Depends when it ends and how the teams return after the lay off but maybe around 10th.

That’s where squad sizes come in. Squad size of 25 and if you don’t make it you’re released and have to wait till the next window opens to sign for a club.

But they're going to sign for clubs less likely to be relegated anyway unless they get offered a massive amount more money, which is then even more onerous on the club if they do go down. Half the time the players on these massive salaries at lesser clubs coast along anyway as the expectation is low. Fair few times I've felt we've got a squad capable of top half and ended up just surviving 'cos it's Cov innit'.

If anything it might help with getting the younger lads playing for lesser clubs than being hoarded in top clubs U23's. If they perform well they know they'll get the chance to move on if the team overall aren't good enough, but if they don't perform they don't get the massive wages after relegation.

Compromise on 35 then and yes. Contracted so they have to be paid but available on a free.

Doesn't stop them hoarding players though. Sometimes teams will buy a player just so someone else can't have them - make the rivals weaker rather than yourself stronger.

Players can sit on the bench/play reserves and earn far more money at a top club than as regulars elsewhere. That's what I'm trying to prevent. Plus if anyone over 21 can't go on loan you're effectively making the lesser clubs weaker as there's even less talent to choose from.
