Well, that's a bit of good news. I think it'll be a major coup to keep Cranie and Keogh.

Does this mean that he will be sitting down with the club and not his agent? If so we have a good chance of keeping him. Crainie - Keogh defence in league 1 would be amazing. It's a shame we don't still have Fox out on the left and Clarke on the right. That would be one tight back line.

He said: “I’ll be sitting down with the club in the next week or so and see where we go from there.

Deja vu.

Happens every time and pretty much every time the player goes.

Just lip service and a paper exercise to make out the club are doing all in their power to keep the player when in reality they know he's leaving.

Yes it would be excellent news and hopefully be a statement of future intent.

We need to build a league one team, bet hes on over 5k a week, bring in a couple of solid league one center backs for that money.

I'd rather have 2 championship defenders in League One i.e him and Keogh. We would have the best defence in the league so that would be a start.

People whinge we haven't got a big enough squad, yet aren't willing to sacrifice a few high earning players to allow us to have a lot stronger more balanced squad.

Improved offer?? How does any of our players bar keogh merit a bloody improved offer? If he doesn't want to fight to get us out of the mess they collectively put us in then let him go.

Cameron and Wood will be a solid Centre back partnership next season.
Christie may have to play at right back as the league may be too physical for Clarke.

2 things, firstly AT has said he has asked the club to talk to him about a deal, no guarantee they will!
secondly, he did say "if they can keep the nucleas of the team we can do well" so he must be basing his decision on whether SISU buy players or not!

The players like us are waiting to see if it is another summer of lies and selling/releasing or whether they are actually going to support the club!

Actually it no news. It's the manager who says he want to keep Cranie - not the board telling AT there are money to keep him.

If they are good players they are worth keeping. Clingan will save us money and Bell also needs to go. Wood as well unfortunately as he is always injured. This frees up wages to spend on additional players (remember Eastwood is off the payroll as well) Cranie is reasonable in staying clear of injuries and has to be worth keeping.

Of course if they are good players they are worth keeping. In these desperate times, we can't afford to be offering contracts to those kind of players, we need to start over again with a completely new squad to give us the best chance of staying in the division, just bringing in the odd player isn't going to do it.

Where does offering new contracts sit with the transfer embargo situation?

Regardless, I can't see him staying. Shame, as I think he's great.

If you were Cranie, would you seriously sign a new contract given the state of the club? Not a hope he will stay.

I hate to be so negative, but this is just a publicity stunt. Cranie is in my opinion actualy a better defender than Keogh. And certainly Championship quality. It is unlikely that he will want to stay and the fact that he is on a free, will mean that other clubs will be making him offers that account for the fact that there is no transfer fee.

So we can't compete on wages, or the level he can play at and as skybluelee has said, the club is so unstable at the moment, it is difficult to draw positives. Let's just hope he is very settled in Leamington...

And if he is considering staying here - why not sign when things looked less gloomy at the beginning of this season?

Surely there could be clause that says if we don't get promoted he could be released. All this talk of Wood and Cameron, lets be honest Keogh and Crannie our the best centre half partnership. We need to try and keep out best players not lose them.

If we can convince anyone to stay it'd be a bonus. They players aren't blind to what's going on behind the scenes. They won't want to be at a club with so much gloom hanging around.

I don't think Clingan will stay, but I have a glimmer of hope with Cranie and Keogh.

Wasn't he offered 8k earlier in the season (same as Clingan was) if so I think that 8k offer was too much anyway, good pro but not irreplaceable. Not very strong in the tackle or particularly good in the air either.
