Marosi needs some credit for that save at 2-1. Godden great finishes, O'Hare good when he came on.

Walsh ran the game.

Shows we have a decent GK to me. Doesn't have a lot to do some games then pulls off good saves.

i would disagree with 8 for Westbrooke, thought he struggled a bit today. Didn't think he had a bad game just didn't play as well as the other midfielders.

Yeah def not his sort of pitch that one but think it was his cross for the all important first goal

Marosi 8 one or two great saves and some good professionalism going down with the head injury
Dabo 6 caught on the wrong side for the pen
Rose 6 suspect for their first goal, again in that spell early 2nd half
McFadz 8 solid, won a lot in the air
Hyam 7.5 pretty good today
Mccallum 7 their right back gave him a hard time but he was great, looks a class above with his first touch and awareness
Kelly 7 picked up a lot of second balls, uses the ball well
Walsh 7 very tidy, always has the right idea but occasionally sloppy in the execution
Westbrooke 6.5 neat and tidy as ever but struggles against the more physical teams at times
Shipley 7 times his runs very well and his finishing is top drawer
Godden 9 excellent spin off his man for the first goal and good centre forward play all day, should have had 4 or 5 really

Subs
Baka 7 good work for the 3rd and helped settle us
O'Hare 7.5 some naive decisions but he's a class act, involved in both goals

I thought McCallum was more shaky today but their right back was decent. Megged him twice and ran round.

He did save a certain goal though

I thought the defence looked a little rattled today especially the first 15 after the break kelly and Walsh were superb Westbrooke played decent enough but certainly struggles with the rough and tumble...looks scared...Shipley took his goal well but again had some sloppy passes under no real pressure but the lad certainly gives 100% Marosi no chance for their goal and a great save at 2-1, Godden took his goals and penalty well and perhaps should have had another goal but thats just being greedy I guess top performance though

This is pretty much spot on for me. Thought Westbrooke was decent enough all round but nothing stand out. Shipley was fairly poor but took his goal really well. Rose distribution was poor today. All very minor criticisms from an overall very good day at the office.

Is anyone else slightly concerned that Bristol City could recall Walsh? Would upset the balance we now have with him and Kelly together.

Isn’t the point of player ratings to rate a player over the full 90?

Your right it was. Great to see a headed goal too, we don’t get many these days
Dont get many anywhere was a debate on talk sport how the percentage of headed goals has dropped dramatically.
Might be due to players worried about problems in later life.

Im a big big fan of walsh but today he failed to execute on a lot of passes

No biggie of course but surprised at the 9 ratings thats all

Yeah, don't think Walsh was a 9. Outstanding first half but less so in the second.

Godden must be oozing confidence now, bet he can’t wait to get out on the pitch. Hope he stays fit!

All in all incredible performance today. I think Marosi it’s absolutely class! Fantastic save today and the defense must be so confident with him behind them.

Only couple of watch outs I had today are:
- I think every game for the last 5 games I’ve seen Westbrooke bottle at least one 50:50. To start with I thought he was really slow but having seen it that many times now I now realize that he didn’t want to get there in time and get stuck in. This is a mental thing it’s just bravery so not sure how this can be changed? Can’t remember if it was in the build up to their goal or to the penalty today but it shows it can be costly. Anyone else notice this or have a dreamt it?
- Dabo. He’s hands down my favourite player but Jesus Christ he can be absolutely rogue. There are moments of madness like the penalty today (soft or not...what are you thinking lad), but also decision making sometimes when we are under pressure and he has about 3 people on him and he tries to dribble or skill move his way out of it. I guess the confidence is a good thing but with experience he needs to learn when to just hoon it out or pass it back to the keeper or something.

Absolutely buzzing though it’s crazy how much better your day is when city perform like that

Ive noticed Westbrooke being late to 50:50 challenges, like you I thought it was pace, but you could be right.

Westbrooke still hasn’t been offered a new contract despite playing nearly every game this season and Robins said recently those out of contract need to “earn it”. He does have a 1 year extension though but I think Robins is looking for more from him before he offers anything long term.

Strange that he keeps out our star summer signing (Allen) then really.

Do we know he hasn’t been offered one? We know he hasn’t signed one. I’m sure I saw an interview with Robins suggest that he wants him signed up ASAP. He also listed him at the L&W supporters club meeting as one of the best players he’s ever managed so I would have thought that would suggest that Robins will/would have offered him one.

I've been saying that Westbrooke is terrible out of possession all season. Shipley is not much better although he has improved on it this season. It tells when you are under the cosh. Also going forward in possession it will cost him and us goals if he's not brave enough to challenge for 50/50s in the penalty area.

If he had that to his game though, he probably wouldn't be in league one.

"Shipley 7....tired badly..started very well."

Is it me, or does Shipley have poor fitness levels and stamina? Always seems done by around the 60-70 minute mark? Then the sloppy passes really kick in

Hard to be too negative with a player who’s scored 6 and assisted for 5 this season is 20 odd games. So much more effective than anyone thought possible
