So a statement from Sky Blues Talk community issued as a press release.

I can text it to cwr through Stuart
Email it to Coventry observer

Get full agreement on here of as many as we can and needs to mention nothing other than the current position as we see it form 7500 members

Starter for 10 then

We, the Coventry City football club community on the Sky Blues Talk forum wish to make the following statement to express our dissatisfaction at the current situation regarding Coventry City playing their games away from the city that bares our name.

We need to be back playing our home games in Coventry. Staying away is playing Russian roulette with our future and our existence.

We acknowledge that our fan base have different opinions on whether to travel to St Andrews this season and hold no grudge against any fan attending or not attending. We recognise Mark Robins and the squads commitment to success on the pitch and agree with him that the more supporters able to financially support the team will increase the chances of success this season and make no difference to decisions being taken behind the scenes regarding moving back to the Ricoh.

So we publicly call on wasps to remove the requirement for Ccfc to sign an indemnity clause to cover any losses relating to the Eu commission complaint and for Ccfc / Sisu to recommit to their legal agreement to not pursue any legal action against wasps regarding the sale of the Ricoh.

We further call on the local media to present an unbiased presentation of the facts and to pursue a resolution to the current impasse enabling us to move back to Coventry without delay

Just put it on the other thread, don't think any city fan could disagree.

Wasps - Drop the indemnity
SISU - Drop any further action
Local Media - Sort your fucking selves out
Are you happy as the owner to have your and my name attached?

Maybe about the going to games bit, just keep it as this:

We acknowledge that our fan base have different opinions on whether to travel to St Andrews this season and hold no grudge against any fan attending or not attending.

I guess I'm in a minority but I'd rather another season at St Andrews if it will bankrupt Wasps and then we can return as owners.

I like it. But wondering if it might be prudent to include the number of active users on here somewhere in the statement to highlight the extent of that opinion? Not sure anyone would really disagree that the clause should be removed and pressure put on W*sps to that effect regardless of feelings towards the owners and their actions over the years.

Like it. Very small edit needed for 'bears our name' rather than bares and make sure to capitalise any names because people will happily jump on that to undermine any points made.
Really? I've already stripped to my underwear in preparation and was looking forward to all getting naked together.

I think we need a poll in all seriousnes, so that we can say 7500 members, we polled our members and of eg 250 who responded, 82% support tge following statement:

....

Otherwise we're no diff to the trust speaking on behalf of people we don't represent.

Rewrite statement

Fans bit from nick
Explanations from shmmee

Add 7500 members of the forum of which xxxxx responded and xxxxx% fully support the statement

Final draft to the person on thread who offered grammar and capitals

Then poll as suggested by Rob by May not include if the numbers are far too low

Fully support the statement

Only send to Wasps if it's accompanied by a big 'Fk off out our City you parasites' message.

There’s no reason we’d own the Ricoh if Wasps went bust. It’s a pipe dream. There’s also no way we could afford to run it at the moment. That’s why we left.

I think we can all agree that no way are SISU even intending to build a stadium. Anyone who thinks different should be certified. Proposing sites is simply about meeting EFL criteria to keep going. The Ricoh was and remains the only option. SISU have capital available and as an investment, if it was to cost the same knockdown price that was given to Wasps by CCC, then of course they'd be interested as it would show an immediate return on investment.

Is the 7500 active users? Can we get say the number of users who have posted in the last month?

Otherwise could be open to the same criticism as the trust when they make their claim of thousands when most of them haven’t interacted for months / years.

Gave it a go myself just to add in, and so Pete has something to work with when adding to it. Not meaning to step on any toes and designed to be ignored/critiqued/cannibalised.

We, the undersigned, as representatives of Sky Blues Talk, the oldest and one of the largest online Coventry City FC fan communities, would like to express our disappointment and frustration with all parties involved with Coventry City playing outside of the city that bears their name.

We call upon Wasps RFC to drop any requests the club, or its owners, indemnify them against costs and losses incurred in the state aid case currently being considered by the ECJ. Should the court decide the Ricoh sale was unlawful this will have been through no fault of CCFC and the size of any likely financial settlement would in reality bankrupt the club we all love so much.

Equally, we call upon Sisu as owners of CCFC to recommit to halting all legal action surrounding the sale of the Ricoh as agreed prior to talks on XX/XX/XXXX. The continued legal action is a roadblock to repairing the relationships required to find CCFC a home in Coventry, both temporarily at the Ricoh and if needed in any new stadium which will require support of the city.

We would also like to express our disappointment and frustration at the local sports media’s inability to hold key stakeholders to account and keep fans informed in an unbiased and transparent manner. Instead of healing them they seem to want to recreate the divides that exist between fans and have continually failed to ask key actors the questions that need asking and to follow up in an informed manner.

Finally we would like to praise Mark Robins and the squad for continuing the hard job of rebuilding the playing side of the club and turning us into an attractive winning team deserving of far more match day support than has happened in Birmingham. We implore all fans to get behind the team so that Mr Robins outstanding work may continue and we can maintain and build upon the current exciting squad.

Signed,

<names>

Not really the aim, but it would be nice to make a point that we distance ourselves from statements made by the trust, that they don't have our support and many of their members are posters here who don't endorse what they say.

Are we not mentioning that we are separate from the Trust (who don’t represent our views). ?
Yep agree - just posted similar :)

Personally...

If you want to reach the media beyond Cov Observer, work with them, rather than against them, so take out anything that can be taken badly, even if that's what you think. The last para therefore should be along the lines of:

"We further call on the media to help pursue a resolution to the current impasse, enabling us to move back to Coventry without delay."

You've more chance of getting it in/on CWR, CT etc. as well, then. Why, incidentally, stop at local media? Why not also send to the broadsheets?

Send it to the Mirror Group instead, who if they publish it, will then share it out to the CET by proxy who will have to print and be properly peed off they didn't get it first :)

You could send it to the trade press, BBC, Talk Sport (although they're useless) etc. Nationals obviously like you said. There's no limit where you could send it really. I'd even look if there's any influential blog writers/columnists as they may wish to adapt a story/blog/article from the press release. Just a few ideas.

I'm happy to put my real name on it too. I'm sure many would.

Further to this real names should be put to it. There’s still a stigma attached to ‘the internet’, social media, forums and twitter etc. Rightly so in many cases. Anonymous ’skybluefatpiece69’ agrees with this statement doesn’t mean anything in reality. We need to show we are real people and not the amorphous skybluestalk divs.
