4th Round vs Birmingham - "thank you" banner (10 Viewers)

Whilst the staff and everyone else have been wonderful, maybe this would be the most poignant one to ask fans to stay away in protest at our plight playing in another city and clubs ground, would send a huge message having no fans other than 6k in the away end.
I know it wouldn’t happen and every fan has a right etc and I’ve been tonight etc but if ever there was a game that could highlight the plight then this is one the trust could try to use.

I think we should arrange a chorus of shit on the Villa to show our appreciation with all 4 sides joining in. I was thinking for a specific time frame of minutes 1 to 90, but perhaps take a 15 minute break in the middle.

I'm grateful of course for what Blues have done, so when we play our last game there, I'll make sure I buy the staff at the pub a drink and I'll shake the hand of the Blues steward who I chat to at games.

This banner though, mmmm. This is a cup tie between two local clubs, and should be played as such, with the edge you'd expect a game like this to have, with no niceties . Just my view, but each to their own.

With all due respect this Trust "highlight our plight" stuff has got us nowhere. We've had numerous episodes of highlighting our plight and it is forgotten within minutes if noticed at all.

If people aren’t feeling the idea of a thank you banner, what about a donation to whatever the BCFC Club charity is, as a gesture of thanks? Everyone associated with the club and local businesses have been nothing but welcoming.

Seriously have they all done it for free.

I'm not particularly precious about it, just an idea. I know they aren't doing it for free but neither were Wasps, and if people can't see the difference in treatment between playing at the Wasps ground and St Andrews then they need their head checking.

Just a chance to step up and be seen to have a bit of class, instead of being seen as that chavvy nuisance club who throw plastic pigs and flares onto pitches disrupting games, is all.

Still, it’s hard to beat a good bacon storm

I think it's a good idea. I would chip in if someone runs with it. Where would we be without them? Northampton, Burton? Not everyone's cup of tea but hey ho we can't agree anything on here.

So what differance is there?
Never had any trouble at the Ricoh unless I asked for it, would expect the same at SA.
Got searched at the Ricoh get searched at SA.
Paid cash for my pie still pay cash.
Watched the game
What else is there?

Okay mate let’s agree to disagree. Personally thing you’re being deliberately belligerent but this is a rare positive thread so not getting drawn in. Have a good night

Posted this in a previous thread but now it's confirmed:

Would be a nice touch to have some kind of a "Thank you" banner or message that could be displayed.

Not only would this help to nullify any ill feelings that could potentially arise from the seating situations, but because I for one am genuinely thankful we are able to play there rather than be homeless and kicked out of the league. Further, I have only ever been treated nicely by stewards and bar staff who seem genuinely sympathetic to our plight, as well as the surrounding pubs and bars. Touch of class too.

Happy to chip in if anyone local can arrange this and agrees (the trust?).

What do you think it should say? Just "Thank you BCFC"?

I have never taken a banner or anything before but I imagine you contact the club to have it displayed? As mentioned above I am happy to chip in if someone can take the lead - not in the UK so won't be able to make the tie but would like to contribute in some way.

Thanks[/QUOTE. Great idea, especially as we spent years under the regime at the Ricoh....

Depends how it's done though. He's right, no home fans and a mass of away would make a statement. He's also right however that it'd never happen (trying to arrange a total boycott is a fool's game).

Would never happen. Our fans are crap when it comes to protesting.

Agreed hospitality has been great.. but let’s not forget that ultimately us playing at St Andrews is a business deal. We’re paying brum a substantial fee to allow us to play there! Not so much the goodness of their heart, more $$$.

Thankful yes, banner no.

This will be cringeworthy bollocks. Luckily it is idea of a few travel de courcy riders on an internet forum and has no basis in real life.

Not my place to give an opinion on whether you lads do a banner or not but yes it does show a bit of class and would be picked up by the media for what it’s worth.

It’s a nice idea but don’t think that you have to do it though. We know you appreciate what Blues have done and we’re a little bit proud of ourselves on the quiet to have helped for little gain. We know the shit you’re in and we ain’t a million miles behind you, the faceless Chinese owners have sold our ground to their holding company recently:

I think (and hope) you’ll love how the day goes. It will be a great craic on the day and Blues at St Andrews ain’t nothing like it used to be in the bad old days.
