It can be a dodgy walk back to New Street especially in the dark all sorts of potential ambush spots. Brum fans have a bit of a reputation nowadays and like to live up to it.

The Police stopped us going down to the Wheels Car Park just outside the stadium! They had to Big police Van blocking the way however did not do anything when some blues fans starting throwing fireworks over the vans straight into our fans that had been kettled in?

Man left with fractured skull near Blues ground before match

Maybe this was another reason for a heavy police presence post match?

Football fans make the trouble for themselves unfortunately. Always happens if we get ‘big crowds’ because one knobhead thinks he can cope with more than one beer!

Blimey. Wish him a speedy recovery.

I went with Cov and Blues friends and family and drank in the centre and George before game. It was mostly good natured but you could tell one derogatory chant could have kicked things off.

After the game the atmosphere changed a bit and the walk through Digbeth was a touch nervy. But then went in the Crown for drinks and the mood in there was fine.

There was always going to be a bit of trouble as both clubs have some arsehole fans and lots of beer was obviously taken. I just hope that anyone who did get a slap was looking for it.

There is certainly potential for trouble but hopefully only between the cavemen that want it.

Personally will look to drive to/from ground and avoid the pubs. Not a bad thing on a school night anyway.
I drive all the time mate park on the a45 side of road mate little walk through back estate nice and easy might walk the road way in the replay though

The cavemen as you put them know what to do and when to duck and dive it’s the poor ordinary fans nonchalantly ambling to or from the stadium that get the problems. Unfortunately the replay will be a bit hairy imo especially if we win.

Same. I was in town initially but then two old mates in the George. Had to sneak in through the back door and cover my scarf though! Even when they realised I was Cov they were sound and wishing us well.
Should have said you were from Liverpool, that would have confused them!!

He still lives in cov and knows a lot of the lads well
85/86 it was him trying to pull a few people together in the face of an onslaught from Villa fans outside the Sky Blue Stand.

Time to get a bit real- they have taken apart Man Utd, Leeds, Portsmouth, Everton, Chelsea etc, they’re older now of course but these are no Stone Island kids, if they decide you’re going to get a warm welcome then they are up there with the nastiest & most dangerous groups in the country. I’d say there was only really West Ham & Millwall which were scarier places to go. Apparently they had some out yesterday who hadn’t been seen in 10 years, all because they had wind a few of ours were going to show up and be ‘disrespectful’ and weren’t going to have it, also bolstered by loads of chavvy kids looking to make a name for themselves. Ours did indeed show up and started insulting them, and the inevitable happened. That’s why it felt so on edge despite 99% not having any bother, it was always going to happen soon as ours showed up on their suicide mission.

If it was our lot who started it i'm very embarrassed by it, it was never going to take much. GROW UP THE LOT OF YOU!!!!!
It was ours, however I would suspect that had our lot not shown up then a few innocent people would have suffered as they were undoubtedly ready to start on someone.

100% and let’s be honest The Zulus would wipe out Covs pathetic Legion firm with ease their an embarrassment

With all due respect, how do you know? I don't, not involved with that scene and never have been, but in 25 years following Cov away there have been times I have have witnessed stuff that was far from embarrassing (in that sense anyway).

Yesterday was nothing to do with that anyway. You had 11K City fans on an away day. Loads of groups on a day out, some youngsters, some older lads, just on a day out, none of whon would identify as being 'Legion' (does it really exist in any meaningful sense anyway) , not neccesarily looking for trouble but who might have become targets and got involved in stuff.

The issue was that the people who did show up looking for aggro (and they did, straight off the train mouthing off about Birmingham being a shithole) bit off a lot more than they could chew.

don’t get the mentality myself, but I guess some people still think it’s 1984.

Basically, if you got to a Brum game looking for trouble you’ll have a very short walk!!
