3-1 against a struggling side although their bowling isn't the worst.
Some positives like Pope, Sibley & Wood, It was a young side.
Buttler and Bairstow's time could be running out.
Denley still not convincing at 3.
Burns back in for Crawley. I know Crawley is young but still find it hard to understand why a player with 50 first class games but only averaging 30 is the right fit.
Hope they don't get carried away by Root as a spinner - nowhere near good enough when batsmen go after him.

Let’s hope it doesn’t lead to the same delusions as Cook’s rollover of the worst Aussie side in living memory

nope.still a young side that is a bit behind Australia & others in the batting department atm but a potentially nice foundation to build on. Should be good enough to get through this year's tests but World t20 could be a distraction for some.

Hain hits a century for the Lions.
Like the fact Sibley & Crawley joining up for the 4 day stuff - experience against quick bowling on Aussie wickets. Bess also going is a good idea
But thought the point of the Lions was youngster development - some "old" players there that aren't likely to make international cricket - evans, Gleeson

There seem to be three or four strange choices there they must be fillers to get eleven.

Hain is a strange one should be a great red ball cricketer but only seems to produce int he white ball format.

The women beat India in the first T20.

Can't get much closer than the last 2 T20s but England not playing particular smart cricket.
Why do we always struggle against aggressive left handers in white ball cricket?

Tom Curran is getting very expensive being picked on past exploits already, far too slow for the modern game

Not a big fan of T20 but when it's good it's pretty damn good.
Nothing pitch today but still got to get the runs. Some extraordinary hitting but don't like games when bowlers are just fodder.

Bowlers back in training at county grounds next week, other players two weeks later. Not entirely sure why there's a two week gap but at least things are moving forward.

Jimmy Anderson was speaking the other day saying the players are looking to get back on the field ASAP and the authorities are looking at the issue of how the ball can be shined without using saliva to keep things as safe as possible.

ICC have confirmed some temporary rules changes:

Test teams are to be allowed to substitute players displaying coronavirus symptoms, approved by the match referee.

Players will no longer being allowed to use saliva to shine a ball, if a player does umpires will "manage the situation with some leniency". Repeated incidents will lead to a warning, a second warning is a 5 run penalty.

Removal of a need for neutral umpires. Teams will be given an additional DRS review per innings so they now have 3.

But if a player during a game displays symptoms he may have been sat in a dressing room with the rest of the team for days. Surely the game could not proceed again until everyone had been tested and confirmed negative?

ECB have announced that they have carried out 702 tests on players, support staff, match officials, ECB staff, venue staff and hotel staff.

All tests have come back negative so looks like we'll be getting some test cricket in a few days.

They must be careful though with the ball being a natural vector for disease. Idiot Johnson strikes again

The top of the test batting line up is pretty concerning.
It is. But on the other hand, you've got 4 players who are pretty inexperienced at Test cricket and just finding their way. I've seen enough from Burns to think he'll come good. I'm also hopeful about Sibley and Crawley. Denly is a stop gap, they're waiting for somebody to come and dislodge him.

When Root returns either Denly or Crawley will get the chop and for me it has to be Denly.

Stokes was going to bat whatever the conditions and Root would have been the same, they never have the thought that they could roll the opposition over for 150 and then score well and bat once, their concern is batting last if you are batting last on day three it is totally different than day five

Backed West Indies at 15/2 for the last test. Gone for Broad to be England's leading wicket taker at 4/1 this time. Unfortunately wont be seeing James Anderson from the James Anderson end although we might see him sitting in it. :(

Team picks itself apart from Woakes or Curran at 8.

Seems like they're rotating the bowlers due to the number of back to back games. Makes sense but you wonder if this has been properly explained to them given Broads comments when he didn't play the 1st test.

I'd love to see Jimmy imitate Broad's interview on the wind up!
