If you want to be depressed, read Jim Brown's analysis of the season.
1. We finished 23rd. The lowest position in our history.
2. We only gathered 9 points out of a possible 69 away from home. This was only the second lowest away points total since three points for a win was introduced in 1981.
3. The run of 10 successive away defeats was the worst by the club since 1929-30.
4. The Saints defeat meant a new club record of 24 defeats in a season.
5. City failed to beat any team by more than a 2 goal margin. For the 2nd season running City failed to score more than 3 goals in any game.
6. City's tally of 41 goals scored was the worst in the division and only Macclesfield in League 2 scored less in the entire football league.
7. The City only finished in the top 10 of the Championship once in 11 years.
8. We are the only team (apart from recent Conference promoted teams) not to have reached any play-off match.
9. For the first time since 1999 the Sky Blues failed to do the double over any team. This is only the thrid time in 25 years this has happened.
10. Over the season we used 31 players and 11 of these came from the academy. Not included in the 31 were also Burge and Wilson who only made the bench and were not used.
11. Matches won from behind - None. For the 2nd season running City failed to come from behind to win a game.
12. Matches lost from being in front - 7. Palace, Burnley, West Ham, Blackpool, Ipswich, Bristol City and Southampton in the cup. In a further 5 games City took the lead only to be pegged back.
13. Hat-tricks - None.
Now surely, surely, the new season cannot be any worse. That is one crumb of comfort to hang on to surely. When you hit rock bottom there is only way you can go.
Question is I guess, have we hit rock bottom yet?
