that thinks that our relegation was planned by Sisu?...Just think about it...if we hit the ground running our gates will soar and if we should maintain a top 6 position they will stay boyant throughout the season. The only problem Sisu have with that plan is of course financing a team capable of a susained challange.

I have said this in previous threads. Its a good way to negotiate rent, lower the wage bill and possibly bring the fans something to cheer about.
If they did and the possibility is there it is fools gold, the reduction of away support at the Ricoh alone will cost us thousands some clubs take less than a hundred to games, unless Sheffield United stay down the highest away crowd will be Walsall, about a couple of thousand, then there's the loss of home support and also the loss of TV revenue and the value of players drop too.

This concept is really clutching at straws, we will be lucky to finish in the top half of the league!
It is usual, for the owners of Football teams to make an effort to avoid relegation, in the form of trying to improve the squad, by signing, or loaning new players, the fear of "Relegation" is usually the wake up call that triggers football clubs into every possible action to avoid the dreaded drop, and all the financial disadvantages that go with it.

There are many references to the term in the early 20th century. These all use hit the ground running in its literal sense and relate to the various ways people might do this, for instance, hobos jumping from freight trains, troops being dropped by parachute etc. The first figurative use that I've found so far, i.e. a usage where no actual ground or running is involved, is from The Hayward Daily Review, October 1940:
