It's about time we bumped up the goal difference a bit.

Godden to start this one.

I agree with Godden starting - two up front. I predict a win (there - I’ve said it).

Sort of agree with a couple of changes to rest players, but there is always a risk in that approach.
Tell you what; I will let Robins decide

Do we think we're capable of approaching this game in a ruthless manner without starting Godden?
Because if we can then I would further rest him , for some of the more challenging up coming games .
Is this a game to try something different from the start and go two up top.
Given the State of the opposition I'd think our other two strikers should get the job done.
Is this reckless heresy?
Think I'll defer to Mark .

When we went two up front yesterday, Portmouth did become more of a threat as they had more midfield possesion.

Luckily it was only us lulling them into a false sense, so we could kick the ball in their net.

In Robins we trust.

unless whatever injury he was carrying prevents him playing 90 minutes Godden has to start.
Said in another thread I'd like to rest Kelly but the conundrum is who replaces him?
Other than that, same again.

Two good questions here about rating deviation.

It says best 1690 on 11th Feb but I can clearly see around 12 games we were in the 1700s.

The ratings up to game 12 were in provisional mode. There needs to be a certain amount of games before the ratings can be considered a true reflection and somewhere near a teams actual rating. The provisional mode length for chess is 20 games but that would be unworkable in this framework, so I cut it to 12 games at the start of last season. The more games played the more the ratings can be considered a true reflection of a teams playing strength and the more stable the rating becomes.

There needs to be a certain amount of games played before the ratings can be considered viable.

Bloody hell I've only just realised the win , draw, lose values are variable match by match. Thought they were just some prescribed norm .
What is it then that determines them ?

The variables which determines them are based on previous results.

An overview of the system can be found below with accompanying papers

FIDE meeting 9-12 April, Warsaw – Stewart Reuben – English Chess Federation

And also the main paper.

Hope this helps.

Just a note though. This is way beyond my understanding.

Also the two points per game thing.

In provisional mode we were hitting two points a game and it was noticeable on the graph.

We are close to that now again, and it seems we are getting to the same level in the ratings (graph) again.

Spooky.

Approx 1400 sold as of this morning

Weather wise looks to be more of a wind issues than rain so expect the game will go ahead.

Team - same again for me.

We Coventry fans are all the same been so dissapointed for so long that we just sit and wait for it to go tits up! However I think we have got something going in the dressing room and the players are totally united, long may it last it should see us over the line. Lets not panic at losing one or two games

Sounds like a good time to play them. They've had some good results recently, including the draw with Rotherham, but sounds like they've got some major injury problems.

Will be surprised if this goes ahead though. Forecast is for winds at least as strong as Sunday. Can see a lot of games called off for safety reasons even without the heavy rain.

They’ve conceded a pathetic amount of goals this season, this has to be a convincing win for us

This has got to be a win, no negotiation on that. Ideally, a convincing win to strengthen our goal difference.

Probably will keep the same starting team, but it’s worth playing two strikers to really stick the knife in. Baka and Gooden if they’re both fit.

Godden should have a field day...

In theory ;)
