Forest focused on the wins. No reason why we can’t win the league. Plus there are one or two others who have similar goal tallies. As long as we score one more goal than them when we play them we play them I’ll be ok.

8 pts minimum from these 4 to keep things in our control. 2 wins and 2 draws.

Away we play none of the current top 6 with Ipswich just outside the playoffs.

Our away form has really picked up and I think will be critical for us to reach the autos.

That’s the perception, and was the case in the 1st half of the season but we’ve started to catch up.

We’re on 43 goals and only P’boro, Rotherham and Pompey have more goals than us in the top 6. You have a handful of teams from 7th-11th who have got 45-47 goals - teams we have 1-2 games in hand on.

This countered by us having the 2nd best defence in the league with only 28 goals conceded. Only Sunderland and ourselves concede less than 1 goal a game on average.

Ultra competitive league this season.

Been a few occasions though where we have gone one up and not finished teams off and are clinging on a bit at the end.

That may have been me you took the bet from - been running a long position on us (compared to others) for ages. Quick tip: never bet on Betfair immediately after a win - it goes out for all teams over the following 2 days. My strategy is to lay all teams that win on the day and then pick them up longer later.

We’ve had a few of these polls over the course of the season and I’ve been consistent in the view we’ll be promoted. In the last one of these a few weeks ago I went for autos and I’m sticking with that - I think we’ll be champions. Plus, I’ll have a very nice pay out if we are!

Our squad is incredibly strong - MR has so many options and no injuries to key players to deal with (long may it continue). We’re playing fantastic football and have shown we can adapt tactics when opposition teams have a game plan to stop us. We’ve also ground out results following sub par performances. Another sign of a successful team.

However, as I mentioned on the last thread of this type, if we don’t go up I certainly won’t be jumping on the taxi for MR bandwagon. I’d trust him to recruit strongly again and supplement a strong squad with players who fit our style. It would be massively disappointing, but not the end of the world. We aren’t having a fluke season and if we had to, I’d back us to do it again.

Rochdale are just above the relegation zone. These type of games are never easy at this point in the season.

It's in our hands and has been for ages. Any team surging with so many games remaining can get into second place - but if *we* continue to surge we will finish top. Until yesterday, Posh looked ominous too (although they have played many more games than others, they were winning every one of their games).

Who knows how it will end? But we are in the best position in the league - the only team that can finish top irrespective of others' results.

We're still quite some way from the run in, the league is very tight at the top but if we can keep grinding out the wins we have a very strong chance of automatic promotion, my only concern is that a lack of firepower upfront will lead us into the play-offs.

The positive thing about goals scored is in the last 10 league games we have had 9 different players on the score sheet, in the run in that means that if someone loses form and their goals dry up it may not affect us as much as it would a team that relies on 1 or 2 players for their goals

As we go forward in the league it's crucial when we are ahead of teams in terms of points. Not to lose. A draw in a 6 pointer when teams are chasing you is crucial. Gets you one step game closer to end objective.

For me end the season now! 2nd place I'd take that.

3td place would be a disaster and a sickened. Much rather creep into the 6th place than finish 3rd.

Again, I get the thinking but I’m sure we were worried about budget issues before the start of this season too, and it hasn’t hampered MR in putting a great squad together.

Plus, as others have said there’s the McCallum money, and if that isn’t enough who says we have to say players. It could just be one for a decent few. Teams may know we’re not in a strong financial position, but it didn’t stop us getting a great deal for McCallum.

Not saying I disagree with the principle, but it might not be as bad as we think.

Again though, it’s a moot point. We’re going up.

No one can predict the future. There are an infinite number of ways things can go can against us or for us. A moment of bad luck could define our season or a mere bad patch of 2-3 games could put us out of the running.
