I said in my first post our away support is awesome. Its just stupid to start a post like this when only 3 other games have been over the average of 1885.

Would this post have been started if we hadn't played MK yet?

Yep, pretty sure it would.

You don't really have a clue what you're talking about.

It would have because we'd still have the 3rd highest away average in league 1 lol

Let's take Sunderland and Ipswich attendances off at donny or mkdons where they took way more than their average lol, is this bloke real

Seems like a good guide to how big a club is, , there are 5 very big teams in this division. I would certainly say that Sunderland are the 'biggest' club in the division and a bit of a toss up between Cov, Portsmouth, Ipswich for the next position. It's a slightly annoying argument I guess but I quite like it....

Always impressed by away attendance stats from clubs which are outposts like Sunderland, Ipswich and Portsmouth
Every away game is a long way away barring a couple. Dread to think some of the journeys some of those followers make midweek. The cost attached to that.

Portsmouth’s following last week midweek was very impressive imo. Some premier league clubs won’t be bringing that many midweek when they are a lot closer.

Away stats are slightly skewed when your in catchment where you have lots of local Derby’s. We are fortunate being in centre of England. Also probably results in us getting decent away fans at our place.

Surprise stat for me is Fleetwood attendance of 272, surprised its that high.

So you can't name anymore then, which proves my point and yes agree its a ridiculous post.

But let's not forget, many games we have sold out. Oxford, Wycombe, Burton, Shrewsbury, Rotherham and one or two others. If these clubs had bigger away ends our average would be much higher. Same for other clubs too. But to make the point we've only taken above 1800 a handful of times ignores the fact that it is impossible to take more than that at most grounds so the average is capped in a way it isn't in the Championship, and our average is higher than most clubs in the Chamionship. You could also argue Bolton was 1500 below what it might have been because of the circumstances that only really affected us. The only really below par following this season was at Peterborough.

It's an average, and many clubs have taken loads to MK, didn't pompey take 5000?

Yep very true and not sure about Pompey at MK but on the same hand Ipswich & Pompey have played at Wimbledon where the allocation is only 700.

Ipswich Barring this season have had dreadful away support over the last 10 years... The numbers are purely based on 2 things.

1.they thought they would piss the league
2.new grounds

City on the other hand have been well supported away for several years

Based on those figures we will be in the top 10 for away support out of the entire 71 football league clubs

Talking of Wimbledon, the scrum for tickets for that game will be unreal. We've also got Gillingham where we don't travel well usually. On the flip side, you get a decent allocation at Accrington and Blackpool so potential for decent followings there.

Blackpool is at a stage where we could be pushing for promotion there and then if we continue our form.. Will sell out, but most decent sized clubs sell Alot there anyway

Can’t they move the game to Selhurst Park. What a day that was all those years ago when we stayed up. Must have been 10K there?

Yep, Sunderland too. They took some shocking followings in their relegation season in the Championship. If those two clubs were to spend 8 years at this level (and lower) like we have they would see numbers plummet. They do have a lot of distance to cover tbf, although Sunderland do have a lot of fans all over the country.

I mean Sunderland are well supported on the whole, but Ipswich are not, yes they have good attendances this season at home.

A successful Coventry draw bigger crowds than both pompey and Ipswich.

Pompey being well supported is one of footballs greatest myths
Averaged over 20k in a season just 3 times since 1959... Coventry 20 times

We have historically apart from the last 10 years had much bigger support than both

Yeah bit harsh on Sunderland.

True about Pompey, in the late 90s they were averaging sub 10K in the Championship. They have rallied around the club in recent times though, so fair play.

Absolutely, today Coventry city as a club is all over the place so it's hard to even guess what we would be getting on the back of 3 pretty good seasons

We've also spent more time in the top flight than pompey and Ipswich too..

Sunderland over 80 years though so miles off them

they do it every week, they’re used to it, they didn’t just wake up and realise Rotherham had been suddenly moved an extra 100 miles away.

You are an educated man :) We are bigger than both Ipswich and Portsmouth. Mouthy does not equal Big

3 good seasons, in Coventry, 20,000+ average, no bother at all. Any other scenario and it’s anyone’s guess.

Cov being centrally located isn't it easier for our fans to get to most away league 1 grounds than say Pompey, Ipswich or Sunderland? Maybe that is another factor in our impressive following!

Be interesting to see what we are up against for next season!

I can see 4k+ at Blackpool given the circumstances. Imagine it being the weekend that we can win promotion. Itll be crazy. But if we do tale more than 3k though, it cant be added to our average attendance because historically we only take 1000 there

Talk about contradicting yourself. You slated me for saying our average was high because we took 6.5K to MK.

And 22nd in terms of home support if based on last seasons Ricoh attendance.

No doubting our away support is excellent.
