How many would we have got last night and Sunday at the ricoh (8 Viewers)

I’m talking about general erosion once the new stadium factor ended and casuals drifted away

Yes, there was a big fall away, starting around the season before relegation from Championship. As a league 1 club though, crowds have plateaued but do rise and fall depending on how things are going. A significant increase will only follow a promotion, but they would have increased 10-15% this season imo.

We got 16,500 v Sunderland at the Ricoh in a game in 2018 and there was nothing at all riding on it, so its a very reasonable assumption that given where we are and how we're doing there would have been be a fair few more at the Ricoh this season.

12k last night
15k on Sunday

If Sun's game was on a Saturday then I reckon about 18k

So you are saying that we'd get 1,500 less than we got last time we played Sunderland at the Ricoh in a game where there was nothing riding on it and we were't going for promotion?

We had 16.5K against Sunderland for a12.30pm kick off on TV when we were 14th in the table. Can't believe people think we'd get less than that with the season we're having.

Incredibly strange logic that we'd get that few this season against them.

Yes, playing Sunderland last season was more of a novelty.

This thread is pointless, we aren't at the Ricoh so what's the point of offering an opinion if you are just getting questioned for it?

Would have been 18k on Sunday at the Ricoh. 4000 away fans.

Probably 14/15k for last night.

We had 17100 against Burton in the Mowbray season. That was a Tuesday night.

I’m pretty sure the Burton game was a Saturday. Beavon was playing for them

The game you might be talking about is Walsall where there was close to 16,000 which was a Tuesday

You're right, my bad.

Even so, that Walsall game was nearly 16000, with around a 1000 away. That's what I'd imagine would have been there last night, especially if it was £15.

Sundays are a nightmare. My lad can't make his mind up whether to play for his team or go to the game, but I'm sure he'll choose the city in the end. It can work the other way though, lots of people work Saturdays.

Don't agree with those estimates, but as mentioned above, pointless argument because it is impossible to be proved right or wrong.

Won't stop people trying though.

Given the state of the Ricoh pitch, it probably wouldn’t have been a top of the table clash and hence speculation is pointless.
Judging by results on ploughed fields and difficult conditions at Tranmere, Southend and Rochdale it probably would still have been a top of the table game.

Yes, because we have to deal with difficult conditions for 3 games means it's just as easy to play under difficult conditions for 25 games.
They've shown that they can cope and that they can win with some really poor pitches. The three mentioned are probably the worst, many others have hardly been pristine. Even the pitch at St Andrews has started to show signs of wear and tear. I think we have a team this year that will get results irrespective of the pitch.
(Just as an aside look at the quality an excellent Derby County footballing team produced on a quagmire of a Baseball Ground pitch in the 70s)

Love the optimism of these crowd estimates.
Personally do nt see it sadly.
Reckon at a push tuesday 11500 and on Sunday if at the Ricoh 13000 including the 4000 Sunderland. pusb

Mate, this isn't the 70s. We play football on the ground and the Ricoh was full of divots all over the pitch last year that resulted in us over playing, taking too many touches and losing points, as MR said himself. We also struggled to get into rhythm against Bristol Rovers in the cup following the Tranmere game with Robins blaming *drum roll* the pitch at Prenton Park. If you think we'd been able to get the same results all season on a pitch that rolls up like a carpet and is about as smooth as sandpaper then me and MR disagree with you.

You think it’d be below last seasons average? Have a word with yourself.

This game, was on Sky last year and got 16k, our attendances rise about 10% YoY with relative success. To think it’d be lower isn’t “realism” it’s attention seeking pessimism.

Attention seeking lol.
In a realist , not pessimistic lol. I think we ll win on Sunday and I hope we ll get promoted.
I also think my estimates for the crowd are realistic.
You do remember we re playing in Birmingham do nt you ?
I wo nt argue with you, you have plenty of those on the forum anyway.
I ll be there to cheer the team on not sitting in watching it on the tv or wringing my hands in anguish at us forced to play in Birmingham.

I can't remember who it was, it may have been Grimmer or Sterling who got tackled by the pitch. It literally tripped them over and took the ball off them.

Was it Bright who the ball was passed to on the ground and it hit a bit of turf and just bounced over his head. I think people forget how bad a pitch is is. St Andrews is a bit bear at the moment but it's flat and playable the Ricoh pitch wasn't just missing grass it just was nowhere near level.
