I think Sunderland are in for a proper hiding Sunday 4-1
What's that based on? We don't score many at home, Sunderland dont conceded many away. They are matching us and rotherham point for point and on goal difference are the top form side over the last 13 games. This is going to be a tight one.

Do you not think young players at a club that depends on developing players for profit should try and ensure that club gets some reward? It’s the waiting until he’s past Bosman age and going for a free that bothers me most. Maybe I’m naive but I think there should be such a thing as loyalty same as we just gave Jones a contract before he’s fully fit.
I agree in part Shmeee but i think you're being harsh on Willis. He could have left a long time ago and stuck with us through league 2.

Such a short career and the loyalty is expected just one way in football. I would whore myself out to the highest bidder if i'm honest. He's probably set himself and his family up for life with that move.

30 points in 13 games is incredible by any standards.

Nah, don't agree with that. Rose has been pretty solid all season and rarely makes an error. Willis was always a heartbeat away from a mistake and seemed to have some kind of mind-to-mind connection with Burge. A calamitous pairing.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Rose is a good player. But Willis is more established, and in my eyes an all round better player now.

now going forward, do I think Rose will be better than Willis? That’s another question. I think Willis is at his peak now, I think Rose has much more potential

you’ve also got to factor in the Burge factor - Rose is playing in front of a more competent goalkeeper, who will inspire much more confidence

Better all round player? He is weak positionally and technically poor. He's fast but that's it which good at this level as most centre backs pack pace but it limits him.

It’s going to be 0-0 surely? Two best defences in the league. Two fairly average attacks.

I'd like us to win, to show players like Willis, who left us for Sunderland (on a freebie), that the grass isn't always greener, and that loyalty beats greed

Not a 'must win' game as such, but we need to win and start putting distance between us and 3rd
If we keep drawing important games, we can forget about automatic promotion.
This is about as 'must win' as you can get.
I see Sunderland as our main rivals for an automatic spot.
We can't afford to do what we did against Rotherham and give them 45 minutes start.
No prediction since according to Nick, the game doesn't exist.

Keep drawing important games?

We drew with Portsmouth 1-0........

It is more important to not lose to our close rivals than anything else. Some wins some draws. We are winning most games. Only drawing a few now. We have been playing less games than those at the top of the table and still catching/pulling away from them.

No need for any drama. Just continue as we are.

Anybody else slightly concerned about how the pitch will be considering all the rain?

I’d argue he did show us loyalty. He dropped down to league 2 with us. There is no loyalty in football anymore.

And we haven’t shown Jones loyalty in the basis of his injury, we’ve give him a new contract based on his previous form. It’s basically saying if you come back as good as before he has value.

if he was bang average and 28 I’d guarantee he wouldn’t have got a new contract.

I’ve no problem with him leaving to Sunderland either, at the start of the season they’d have tripled his wages and were expected to finish in the top 2.

The fact we’ve been arguably the best team in the league is hindsight

I agree with that but I also agree with people who are saying they wouldn't swap him for any of the 3 CBs we have now.

That's no slight on Willis, I just don't think he'd fit this system.
