No, just giving the alternate view. I think it’s a shame that some like to sow seeds of division where there’s no need. All of this hate for Coventry because of what JH did 40 odd years ago (JH didn’t delay the KO, the police did, the passing about bit lasted only a few minutes, not 15. The only thing JH did was have them put the Everton Sunderland score on the screen.Shows how miss information itself can cause division) is only recent. We have played them loads of times with no bother. Yet because of the latest nonsense there was trouble at both of last season’s games.
Some people can highlight differences between themselves and others and think it’s great (I think the Geordie accent is great) some people highlight the differences between them and others and start to criticise.

The police had no other option but to ask for a delay. The Bristol contingent was well over 10000. Sunderland score was put on scoreboard but most of us knew anyway from our trannies, I’m certainSunderland were losing 1-0 at half-time, Bristol City actually hit the bar with almost the last kick of the game. Funny how this has developed 40 years after the event and far as I know not the same venom aimed at Bristol City who were part and parcel of same antics.

However, they got one back out of the blue and then they really came at us getting a second to equalize. I'm sure we were 2-0 up at half time. We had won 4 and drawn 1 of our previous 5 to even have a hope going into that game.

Although I had been going since 1972, the Bristol City game in '77 was the first game I actually remember. I recall the players just passing it about and the crowd cheering a little. And being mixed in with Bristol City fans. I was only 12. I started going to basically every game home and away from the 77/78 season.

That didn’t happen and once Bristol equalised it was them who kept the ball passing it around like a training session, but it was JH who got the blame

Yes, it was at 2-2, though I didn't know myself at the time. I was under the scoreboard and therefore wasn't aware the score had been flashed up and couldn't see it. I was screaming at our players to and get the ball back off the Bristol players.

I was in the Sky Blue Terrace and a Scot next to me held his head in his hands and kept repeating 'oh fucking hell' when it became 2-2. Terry Yorath was standing on the pitch v.near me when the scoreboard flashed up the Everton score but he didnt realise why all the fans were going mental. That was until he turned round and saw the scoreboard. A big, healthy, toothless grin followed !

We could see the scoreboard from the West End and we cheered every time the Bristol City players passed the ball to each other.


And the point is, if Sunderland had been in the same position as the two City’s then they would have done the same .


But they couldn't because Sunderland LOST 2.0 to Everton. HAPPY DAYS.
