No great excess of toilet rolls seemed to be moving tonight.

In a plus side though if we have a headache and a bit of a sniffle take time off until it goes away, the workforce maybe short on numbers for the next few months

What’s the betting he shitroll hoarders are the same group as the 65% recently surveyed that aren’t even bothering to improve their hygiene habits (washing hands more) ?!!

I assume they won't be crazy enough to cancel small public gatherings of about 100 people...?

Bacterial hand gel is being sold at ridiculous prices now.

The stuff I usually get, which is from Home Bargains, are 3 for a pound.

Now being sold online elsewhere for £12.99 per bottle. Exact same ones.

I hate to see stuff like that. If I had a stockpile and I paid 3 for a pound, I would sell them at 3 for a pound and then just charge whatever pennies it would be for postage on top.

In fact, if I saw people in person, I would probably give them away for free.

I hate to see people profiteering on the back of other people's misery and in crisis situations (yep, I know it is all over hyped, but you can't stop the likes of my 90 year old dad from worrying).

So much for ‘keep calm and carry on’ haha
Well yup. I am cool about it all, as is my daughter, who has a suspected case at her school.

I do know that some people do worry though, especially the elderly, and they shouldn't be ripped off.

Yes but the media hype and subsequent frenzy means those most at risk don’t get the attention or access to resources they need.

Can't be true, i read that 80% of cases are like having a mild flu

Maybe so, but don't forget China are way ahead of us- new cases decreasing and over half now recovered. This might be total scaremongering crap but there are quite a few sources saying that it is not "just a flu".

Well if its not just a flu how come so many are recovering, think the worst of it comes in the Elderly with pneumonia or other difficulties not so much Aids or Sars

I went to see an immunologist the other day at the Chest Clinic in the centre of Birmingham. Since my "thing" I have to go every 18 months or so. They were discussing allergies with me and stuff I need to avoid and that - getting stung by a bee or wasp is a big no-no. She did say that I was one of the people with "underlying health conditions" and I should be extra careful with the coronavirus thing. I've always been careful since my illness. I have always used hand gels and opened doors, etc with my hand in my sleeve. Before I would never have really thought about things like opening doors or using touch screens, etc. Now, I'm a little paranoid about it.

No idea- like I say you never get the full info on these things, and there are plenty of reputable sources saying that its way more than just a normal flu- but maybe thats the 'local' Chinese strain and we have something milder, don't know.

And if you don't mind me asking, would that be the same with 'normal' flu?

No, I don't mind. Yes, my immune system even after all this time is rubbish. For example I got a cold the week after Christmas and I still haven't shaken it off yet.

I have to generally - like everyone I suppose - avoid ill people.

Good news - I've just found an unopened packet of face masks I bought from Wickes last year . 5 in all.
If anyone wants one you can have them at £10 each or I'll do two for £25.
Can't say fairer than that.

Ah the CEO of CEO vaccines boosting income. Shocking, it's not the most dangerous virus of this century. SARS was far more deadly. People need to stop this scaremongering bollocks

Over 100000 cases and 3500 deaths, the numbers don't back up that bolocks and neither do other virologists but it makes good tv

Didn’t watch it then no? Specifically the boosting income bit.

Yes but what he said isn't based in any evidence. Mortality rates are falling at the moment and the mainstream medical viewpoint is that while bad the threat to people is moderate.

C4 should give air time to the many virologists that would oppose his views. Remember just because he is an expert does make him right. Many other experts would disagree with him.

Also percentage of the world figures are mental. The Spanish flu was only 27 percent of the worlds population

Swine flu also killed up over 500000 people 11 years ago. We gave a long way to go to even reach that yet

Bacterial hand gel? But this is a virus?

I can sit quietly and be annoyed with the brexit boys spouting “scaremongering” whilst ignoring the experts. Because it’s more than likely not going to affect me. But I’m not having the same cunts who know no more than I do about this flu bollocks actively make a point of ignoring the experts again in something which still probably won’t affect me directly but could kill my 90 year old grandfather. You cynical fucking ballsacks. The amount of false equivalencies I’ve heard is a fucking embarrassment.

Yup. My dad is 90. He has to go to clinics twice a week for his leg ulcer. He can't just stay indoors and out of the way.

On a personal level I am not that worried at all, but you have to think of other people, the old, the vulnerable, the sick.

They are people too.

I think this is it, whilst I am probably healthy enough to get through it (unless it mutates!) but elderly are going to be prime targets. You then have Tracey the 35 year old hairdresser buying 6 months worth of bog roll and hand sanitiser leaving nowt for anyone else and then she will still wonder why she gets ill

That's the problem, the frenzy around it all will mean that those in actual genuine need won't get the attention or resources that they deserve.

My dad is only in his mid 60’s but he has COPD - which puts him at risk. If and when the time comes where he has to self-isolate I worry about trying to get him stuff he will need because a lot of selfish bastards have decided to strip the shops of everything.
