Sunderland game (4 Viewers)

It's not really embarrassing that people make observations when a game is in play?

It's stranger that people go through after and use hindsight to try and prove some sort of strange point even though they weren't there?
Observations all good, going around calling Robins an arrogant twat & saying we’re lucky little shits is just stupid.

It has got worse for some reason Nick, so much so I’ve actually been avoiding the match thread during the game.

It’s fucking annoying because if you can’t watch the game and you want close to real-time feedback people rely on these threads. But they become a mongfest of moaning and bitching at players and management rather than anything tangibly match related.

@sw88 I think it was used to be a brilliant source of match information but I haven’t noticed much from him recently.

Expressed much more eloquently than I managed.

You kind of sum it up. “I saw errors in our game”.

Who are you to say that? You aren’t qualified to be ‘seeing errors’, you don’t know enough about the game, if you did you’d be working in the game. The arrogance and pomposity of your statement sums it up. We’ve got the longest unbeaten run in English football, top of the league, our best season in 50+ years and you self-appointed experts know better than the manager, you haven’t got a clue what you’re on about.
So just to clarify - because nobody works in the game, they have no right to say anything but completely positive....is that right?

So you can’t say that they are all over us or they are dominating? Hahaha. You really are a sad little softy aren’t you.

Fancy having your team top of the league and being butt hurt and going through a match thread and copying in game commentary and complaining about it. Lmao.

Have you ever watched a game of football in the pub with your mates? Do you just stay quiet for 90 minutes??

Ringiofsteels Ipswich match thread, if we were 1-0 down and not playing particularly great:

“goodness, the weather sure is a bit glum”
“Stop being so negative”
“Sorry. Well we certainly are giving it a good go!”
*mcfadz two foots someone and gets sent off and gives away a pen*
“....well that wasn’t a great tackle was it”
“STOP BEING SO NEGATIVE IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE”

Soft lad

That's right, my chavvy little friend- I forgot the ruling whereby second half goals conceded don't count :woot:

Jesus, don’t you drone on! So, football fans on a football forum talk about football things in an emotive way and you get annoyed at them?! I don’t like the negative comments, but I can leave them alone. Maybe you should try the same.

Plenty go to games and say we r shit and refs hatw us. Dont use emotion as an excuse plz

I feel i am neutral on this. I can agree with @procdoc that Sunderland had chances and could easily have drawn or won

I just dobt agree with those that expect a win every week and moan whilst we are winning!

I don’t think I said anything out of turn. At points during the game we couldn’t get out of our half but when we did we looked very dangerous on the counter attack. I’m not being negative saying that

Yeah. I get what he says about people insulting players and manager. But if it’s just your own observation on a game and he has a problem with that, I don’t really understand how he gets through life interacting with other people!

I agree, USS.

I watched the game on Sky and was also flicking through on here at at the same time and I thought it was like it was two different games we were watching.

For me, Sunderland clearly huffed and puffed, but hardly created anything and Marosi had pretty much nothing to do all game.

Many of the comments on here didn't seem to reflect that and were rather OTT I felt.

Constructive criticism is absolutely fine.

I have still not been yet this season (parents and illness) and yet when I read the match threads I find it totally baffling as to how we are top of the table and have only lost three games all season.

The match threads in general do come across often as that we are not a good side and Robins doesn't know what he's doing.

Lots of screaming at him for not making subs and being an arrogant, stubborn prick. Yet, here we are. Top and only having lost three games all season.

I have been baffled a lot this season reading the match threads. Constructive criticism, yep, fine, but an awful lot of negativity too.

It was so exciting second half I hardly posted. Maybe people should have to state whether they are

a at the game
B watching on I follow
C listening on cwr
D none of the above

Games are emotive things - people get tense/nervous and letting that out on here/twitter etc is a cathartic exercise for them. There's games where we're under the cosh, players are looking a bit tired and I want us to make subs and MR has seemed to wait too long to do it. If we don't seem to be creating many chances and I think a change in strikers might help is that negative? Or is it positive because I want us to do more to try and win the game?

I also assume RoS won't be commenting on the politics criticising Brexit and the Tories anymore, because he doesn't know enough about it and if he did he'd be in government wouldn't he? And I say that when I'm largely politically aligned with him. Nor will anyone be criticising SISU/Wasps/CCC/SBT etc because if they had the knowledge to do so they be involved with it wouldn't they?

thanks @usskyblue !
I was at Ipswich today and was the first time, maybe because I’ve not done many away games this season, that I realised how much I missed doing commentary? But at the same time it was nice to sit and watch the match (maybe being in hospitality / the directors box helped ;) )!

When I watch a game on ifollow in Riyadh I have the game on the tv and read the match thread on ifollow.
There is a real sense of two different games going on and I agree with Ring of Steel that the negativity is...negative.
We all know that you are not going to have it all our own way and in some games we are going to under pressure.
The evidence that we are a decent team is that we are top of the table, yet some do target certain players and promote their favorites. The question I would ask is always this? At what point do you have faith in our manager? at what point do you believe that he actually knows what he is doing?
What I do worry about is that when we do start to lose the vitriol will be too toxic and out of proportion and more than likely undeserved.
Sometimes you just have to give the opposition credit.

He’s too busy renegotiating his sponsorship deal with Villa when they go down at the end of the season.

I don't have any problems with many comments. Some are reasoned and just someone's opinion, though....

"Their well on top all one way traffic"

Totally disagree. We defended really well and Marosi hardly had anything to do. I didn't think Sunderland were well on top at all. That's all about differing opinions I guess, but a game of football isn't all just about attacking and possession. The great Leeds team of the 70's would often win a game 1-0 and would just prevent any opposition from breaking them down.

"We're second best." Disagree

"O’Hare totally absent today" Disagree

"Come on city. Completely on the back foot." Disagree.

"We need to get a grip here" Disagree.

"We can’t carry on in that manner second half lucky to be ahead" Disagree.

"What game are you watching? They have been the better side" Disagree.

"He’s gotta point mate it’s been all one way traffic we’re lucky to be ahead" Disagree.

"Robins needs to make a change soon but I don’t even know who to bring off. Plenty of contenders" Disagree. How come after the game the ratings for pretty much all the players was so high?

"Can’t get out of our own half" We played very well defensively and they were little threat

"O’Hare probably the poorest I’ve seen from him today get max on for him ASAP stupid free kick to give away from him there we have no out put her max on ffs Robins"

"Sunderland have been far better than us today I can’t see how robins is not looking at this to change things"

"Fucking Kelly giving the ball away. Get him off."

"Kelly you utter c**t"

"Lucky fucking shits."

"This is poor from robins today how’s he not seeing the changes need to be made"

"Robin's make a change you arrogant bastard."

"Yeah lucky you moron have you see the stats 80% possession for them fuck knows how we’re ahead"

It's just the volume of it all and it is not constructive and not reasoned

These three below are fine. It's constructive and reasoned.

"We can't get on the ball. I'd be tempted to bring Westbrooke on as he recycles the ball well."

"Baka on our best player Allen off lol" Fine.

"We seriously need to get a grip in midfield." Fine.

"Will be a steal if we get 3 points here." Disagree

"We’ve been shitting ourselves all match. "

I totally get what ROS is saying.

I watch SSN and it often seems so much at odds with what is being posted on here. I get it is all impassioned and people get nervous and anxious.

All I can say is, I read the match threads, it would appear that we played really badly and that Robins hasn't a clue, but then after, us having won, it all seems to be praising the manager and scoring the players highly

It does seem very much at odds.

It doesn't bother me like it bothers ROS. It just leaves me a bit confused.

Yesterday, again it seemed rather panicked, but Tony Cottee on SSN was saying there was hardly anything to report and he thought Coventry looked well set to see the game out without much bother.

I do think a lot of the stuff is based on the past and City's awful lack of success and the old habit of throwing it away at times. I get that for sure.

Only us eh ;-))) sitting top of the league and still arguing;-)))
I know I’m now an old git, but I still go through the emotions of watching my team. Up one minute down the next. Dabo the best player in the world, then the Pratt lets the winger go by without a challenge ( yes I have picked on my favourite) .
I take no notice of what people say while the game is on, only when it’s over and the heart slows and we have time to be logical.
Oh and how the f*** do you have time to post while the game is on? By the time you have called someone a t*** for missing an open goal, he has probably just scored a beauty.
Let’s just enjoy the ride, the last time I remember this it was 1967 and I had only dreamed of shagging.
WE WANT THE OLD FIVE ;-))))))

Yeah, I can never post while the game is on, unless there is a break for an injury etc.

I usually only post pre-match, half-time and post-match if I am there.

I really don't know how people do it.

As I haven't been this season, it just seems a bit strange that we are seemingly playing so badly and the manager hasn't got a clue what he's doing and yet, we have only lost three games all season and are top of the league and clear of the chasing pack by 7 points.

Mind you listening to Clive yesterday in the last minute could make anyone breathless- sounded like the ball was in the 6 yard box flying around like a pinball - right we did get the three points - win dirty possibly no idea as Clive was interpreting play for me - luckily Oggy talks some sense - so stop arguing - move on - to the next cup final Satdee - can’t wait for my trillion dollar Brucie bonus

Don't trust Clive Eakin.

Have mentioned before, when I am at a game I have the the CWR commentary on at the same time and so often they don't match, his commentary and what is going on, on the pitch.

I think the last paragraph sums it up.. after watching many many years of us screwing things up I just think its the tension and anticipation, from me anyway, of wanting us to do better but this team is performing to unbelievable levels and as you quite rightly said we are similar to the Leeds team and just managing the games so well and preventing to a large extent chances at our goal..At times I have a rant but thats purely caught up in the emotion and when I calm down I rationalise better...hopefully
