In the Leicester v Villa match thread, the BBC have posted a photo of Gazza in a Leicester kit 'celebrating a 1-0 win at Villa Park' (just been back to the site and it's not now there?) Somebody having a laugh at the Beeb - surely Gazza never turned out for Leicester, did he?

A quick Google reveals he played for Leicester in Steve Walsh's testimonial, probably where the image originates from. That's the only time I can think he'd have played for Leicester.

Fair enough, but the Beeb posted a photo of him in an action shot on the pitch in a Leicester kit (when he had his bleached blonde hair!) as if it was in a game against Villa - was odd (but since deleted)

Edit: just read Paul Anthony's post - perhaps explains it (although not their comment)

Definitely lived/lives in Sapcote. It’s quite nice there too.

I lived there for about 25 yrs & still go back now a lot, I never heard that once though.

I just asked and he lived in Stoney Stanton (the next village) as his management company are based in Leicester and they were trying to keep him as close as possible to them in order to keep him under control and off the sauce. He moved in with a woman there for a while. He was there for about 6 months and went into the local in Sapcote a few times "surrounded by hangers on", which I guess is why people thought he lived in Sapcote.

It didn't work out so well.. Paul Gascoigne makes homophobic slur in busy pub | Daily Mail Online

He moved away right after this happened.

Not far from where my kids grew up too. We lived in Sharnford for twenty-odd years. Fortunately I managed to sneak my missus into Warwickshire for their births ;)

Spent quite a few hours in The Countryman watching out the window for the X148 bus to show up..

We were thrown out of there the first day we moved to the village. Utter twats ran it then. Later much improved, but by then we'd moved to the Star. Much better class of abuse in there from the landlady Madge. "You want ice? Piss in it". I kid you not. Loved Madge!

Is that the one that’s now got a picture of a dog outside it?

Haven't been past for a while. When Madge died in the eighties it was sold to a bloke who was a falconer, and he changed its name to... The Falconer. He sold it on some years later and again changed its name, to The Sharnford Arms.
All imaginative stuff.
I probably haven't been in for 20 years
The Countryman has also changed hands and name, and is now run by the Edge family who we lived a few doors from on Henson Way. Haven't been in there for quite a while either, but they say the snap is good.
