I’m working from home for a bit now.

Keep distance from people for those worried.

Still productive so the economy doesn’t go to shit.

get to do it with my dick out for me.

What if they catch it at work, the supermarket or the bus?

If they are then going into an on people's home or visiting vulnerable people, then I can understand it.

But going to work or to the supermarket are much more necessary tasks than going to a gig ffs!

Honestly I don't get why this is so hard to understand that large gatherings/crowds are not a good idea.

I'll still be playing football on Friday and going to the pub (if they are open). I won't be seeing any old or vulnerable people.

Not quite the same as on the bus or on a football pitch is it. You do what you want, but I'd say 5,500 people up close & sweaty is pretty fucking stupid and pretty fucking selfish right at this point in time.

Then you’re an eejit. We are trying to limit contact as much as possible because the fewer people moving the slower the disease spreads. Don’t be a knob. Stay at home. Birds won’t shag you cos you aren’t scared of the virus.

Such an unbelievably ignorant stance to take.

'I won't be seeing any vulnerable people after I've been to the pub/gig so who cares'

This is why a definitive decision was needed, not the halfway house we got, to stop the selfish and ignorant people from making the situation worse.

Read the second paragraph of the tweet.

insurance will not normally pay out anyway unless a specific policy is taken out - fake news old boy

Agree with this PVA. Not sure why they don’t just say that all bars, restaurants and clubs will need to close from immediately/X date

ps the 7 day and 14 day isolation was explained clearly though

I know I’m replying to my own post !

Just been speaking to someone far more intelligent than me (and defo not a Johnson fan) who said actually the psychology around this is quite interesting. By not formally banning certain behaviours you almost hope to get the individual make the decision (and buy into the process by the time you might need to ban) thereby hopefully keeping more people onboard for longer.

Id not really considered this but kind of makes sense I suppose...think about the reaction last week as to why we weren’t already stopping/banning certain things such as public gatherings, many were almost willing the government to undertake more draconian actions/steps.

Just thought I’d share the theory (feel free to ignore)

12 weeks eh for limited contact.

That kind of messes up my wedding... might be quite a minimal gathering, if anybody at all!!!

Which is grand, but who picks up the pieces of businesses going bust through having no custom for months? The airline industry or indeed railways? People going on statutory sick for extended spells?

The vast majority of us are not going to suffer from this disease. If those who are at risk are kept distanced but not forgotten then we minimise the economic damage.

Seems likely.
But why ?

So people buy into the requests for longer I guess, which helps soften the peak for longer, buys more time for NHS etc etc
But why not just be direct .
The discourse , uncertainty and distraction from the focus seems pretty wasteful.
Nuanced mind games could create unnecessary hysteria.

Just a theory Wingy, might not be correct at all (interesting that a number of western countries are almost doing it in this way though - appreciate Italy probably didn’t have the opportunity). China/eastern countries can be stricter and the people probably a little more obedient !

It is interesting, not sure its right though.

Many decades ago now in my degree we studied the behaviour of people in disasters, particularly the Kings Cross & Bradford City fires- a lot of people died there because they were literally afraid of 'breaking the perceived rules' and going onto the tracks or just going onto the pitch etc, the power of compliance with pre-established 'rules' is very powerful no matter how dire the situation is. That was a different time though I guess, society moves on. Another pretty established fact is that in times of crisis people want to be led, they want to be strongly told what to do & what not to do. What we have here is someone appears to be someone saying "do what you want, but be careful, you're taking your chances". Maybe this is another clever experimental approach, who knows.

Quite, like your friend it had occurred to me .
Maybe didn't understand the ultimate reasoning.

The majority will get it won't they?

How many people with mental health issues are going to suffer from being stuck in?

Queuing up outside Costco or Aldi with hundreds of others isn't necessary in the slightest either.

If you want selfish then have a look at those pricks. I will just keep going to the little shop round the corner which has toilet roll, handwash etc and is just going as normal with no fuss.

Still, if it makes me a mass murderer because I will still do stuff I enjoy and need to stay mentally and physically healthy (not the pub bit) then so be it.

I will leave people to be in their toilet roll castles.

Haven't read everything posted since I've been out at work but looks like folks may have missed that Dave Boddy is self-isolating in precaution as he's just been on holiday in Spain for a week. Aside from him keeping clear of the team, manager and the club, why is our Chief Exec taking a holiday abroad during the most important part of the season ?

Why not? We didn't have any games. It's not like he has been on a 6 month trip around the world.

Couple of hour flight to Spain.
