Thanks Clint, decorate the house and when weather gets better do the garden I’ll end up with a show home

do you like reading BHSB? Or anyone else that's isolating.
If anyone puts up what genre they like it may be some of us have some books they could have/lend. We can always leave them on peoples doorsteps.
Might help pass a few hours. I don't have an extensive collection but there may be something of interest in there.

This may be shit advice but everyone keep saying “went to X large supermarket”. I’m hearing even the co-op is OK and smaller businesses are both less likely to be mobbed and more likely to need the business over the next few months so why not head to a local shopping area and hit the greengrocers etc?

That’s my plan tomorrow.
Definitely a better option (so far) in Birmingham. Large supermarkets stripped bare, small shops still ok. Today.

Books are the only physical media I’ve got left in my house. Got a Kindle too but you can’t beat a good bookshelf. Just keep that for the good ones and the text books or trashy shite I get digitally.

5 days in and I've already had enough.

If we are in 'lock down' for the next 3 months I think I'll lose the plot properly.

Can't go out and do almost anything. I still don't really understand the seriousness of it all to be honest. Can't help but think it is a bit over the top.

I understand there are people vulnerable to the virus and of course the right precautions should be taken there, but otherwise the whole world has to be in isolation for 3 months because of a flu on steroids?

I think it's really difficult for us all to grasp the severity of it,. Hopefully it won't happen, but I think it will take some serious fatalities, particularly locally, to drive it home. I think that's when it will dawn on us.
Hopefully that doesn't happen and we're all left wondering what the fuss was about.

I just have limited storage space!

perhaps we should get novels printed on bog rolls? Gives you something to read in the loo and people seem to have infinite capacity to store them. Plus when you've finished the storage issue isn't a problem. Of course you will need to keep you're own bog roll separate or the story may well jump on a fair bit between visits?

I'm off to e-mail Dan Brown about the idea.....

I would've killed for an e-book during school/uni. My shoulder is proper fucked carrying those things around with me for years.

If we did nothing half a million people would die in this country. Does that help?

I'm not saying we do nothing.

How many able bodied people under the age of 70 has it killed? That's more my question.

As I said, the right people need to be protected. I'm just unsure how much of a risk it is to those outside of the vulnerable persons category.

We’re all rooting for him. Does he know about all the places offering NHS staff free hot drinks or big discounts? Nando’s, Subway, Maccys, BK, all doing it. Not much but it’s something. (And before Nick starts, yes he should go through the drive thru ;) )
Thanks he is aware, but is trying to eat really healthily to maintain his immune system as best he can, so fast food is only a back up.
As he’s a doctor at higher risk of contracting the virus he’s avoiding contact with the public away from the hospital, so shops, take aways & family & friend contacts are out.

This is why people like him should get priority to get good food without pissing about after working all day. Let them input an NHS number to get priority delivery from stores somehow.

Dont have exact figures but the related deaths aren’t just coronavirus cases. If you’ve destroyed your healthcare system by flooding it with Coronavirus cases then you can’t treat the car crashes and heart attacks and everything else as effectively.

The government were originally thinking like it seems you were: just worry about the vulnerable. Problem is that you can’t isolate just the vulnerable the virus spreads too quickly and hospitalises too many able bodied young people for the NHS to keep running.

I read the other day in the states something like 40% of hospitalisations are aged 20-54. Younger Adults Make Up Big Portion of Coronavirus Hospitalizations in U.S.

I’m planning on coming out full Jesus when it’s over. Ball hair down to my knees and everything.

So it turns out Tim Martin is asking his staff to distribute leaflets in Wetherspoon pubs which goes directly against WHO guidelines saying there should be no lockdown, refers back to herd immunity, justifies it by talking about finances & the Dutch position (where all pubs are closed), and finishes off by slagging off France.

We've got our first confirmed case of a child with coronavirus - 13 years old but Govt doesn't think it's necessary to test her classmates or teachers!!
We've also now got the army on the streets "protecting key installations". 140 key companies (utilities, food,) now under military co-ordination
