Northwick Park Hospital has declared a “critical incident” due to a surge in patients with coronavirus, the Health Service Journal reports.

In a message to staff seen by the HSJ, the hospital in Harrow said it has no critical care capacity left and has contacted neighbouring hospitals about transferring patients who need critical care to other sites.

The hospital is run by London North West University Healthcare Trust, which has since reported six deaths related to coronavirus, all at Northwick Park

Proud yes, but quite worried as he's been in the frontline of this for the past two weeks without the right gear and to see the government statements in warm words is galling. The NHS and it's staff needed swift action weeks ago. They have been without safety kit and ventilators, etc. and if we have a big spike due to people not changing behaviour, then more will die as they can't all be ventilated.

lets hope they start getting the proper kit. To protect themselves and treat their patients. Still too late but better late than never. Fingers crossed.

Ironically I've now got watery eyes, blotchy /itchy skin, bit of a runny nose...

No dry cough, temperature, or anything however.

I'd muse on the irony if my household ends up laid low with some other disease!

Suspect however it might be being stuck in the same place all the time, and some mild allergy to something flaring up - will open lots of windows over the weekend and stand in the garden like a dipstick.

Have you seen the size of some of those text books? And you had to take in about three different ones a day. I walked to and from school (two/three miles e/w) from the age of 13 and twice a week had full PE kit/boots etc as well. At uni I travelled and it was a couple of miles round trip from the station everyday and those bastards were really heavy.

At the time I did it no problem, but it's coming back to bite me on the arse now I'm getting a bit older. Fair enough some of the damage is cos I slung the rucksack over one shoulder instead of both (which prob also contributed to the tilted pelvis) but it was pretty heavy stuff for a small kid to be lugging around.

They are contracted to start taking non coronavirus patients from the Royal London from next week
Leaving politics out of it there is a lot more planning going on than most realise

We reported earlier that Spain had become the fourth country to register more than 1,000 deaths from the virus.

But the country's Foreign Affairs Minister Arancha González has said the government hopes to flatten the curve of infection "within two weeks".

"That’s the prognosis we're working with at the moment," she told the BBC. "It will rely on a co-ordinated approach and responsible behaviour from our citizens."

"That's our hope and that’s where we're putting all our energy. Our entire country is embarked in a fight."

Ms González also reassured Spaniards that there was a sufficient supply of equipment.

"We have a good stock of products and are purchasing more medical and sanitary equipment," she said.

Considering the sharp rises in cases daily, can anybody see this being the case within the next 2 weeks? Spain looks horrific atm

Northwick Park isn't small, it's the brutalist behemoth you see on the train on the way out of London just past Wembley. It's the main hospital for Brent and Harrow boroughs. I've done a fair bit of work in the area.

I think he’s just talking about the lag between intervention and seeing results which is often stated at two weeks. How long have Italy been under? Has it been two weeks yet? If we don’t start seeing things improve when it has I’m going to get very worried about what it’ll look like here.

Like I say even if they’re working we won’t see for 2-3 weeks after lockdown starts. I’ve lost track of when they put the serious measures in. Doesn’t look good for us avoiding lockdown.
