Italy's numbers are truly harrowing, but this is where everyone's favourite graph comes in handy.

As a percentage increase the daily deaths are reducing. As viruses spread exponentially (this one at around 33% per day) this is a good thing and while the daily deaths look horrific, and they are, at least they are reducing exponentially.

An Italian doctor just said that the people in Italy ignored the lockdown. It was 3 weeks ago. The message from her to the UK is stay at home. In the beginning they continued their routines and ignored any advice. She says We need to use all the precautions (we already know about).
The presenter said we aware about 2 weeks behind Italy. It should be on again at about 7:20 pm C4 +1

this gives the impression that some cities here are going to be in deep trouble before long. I hope not.

South America is also clamping down. Peru in particular.
It was ignored in Lombardia right up until the nationwide one 2 weeks ago, its very similar to the UK and is why I’m so worried of what’s going to happen there as it’s going to be the same as here. I think that here has double the number of ICU beds compared to the UK as well.

Like here, the whole country there is going to be in deep trouble.

they should stick the graph in all supermarkets, totally push people over the edge :)

Nick does like a good argument.

Unfortunately, this is a very bad one.
Very true though.

Until they sort supermarkets its going to be spread like wildfire.

Again, people do need to eat. They don't need to queue for hours to be able to do so.

It will certainly be very low and reducing daily if 50 million are dead

No one is denying this????

No one needs to dribk alcohol so lets just park that argument at least. Pubs can do 1 for now

Supermarkets r needed. Lets control way ppl use them sure but silly to demonise those that go as legitimate reasons

No legitimate reasons to drink with friends currently right now in this world as it is

As has been said. People queuing up for hours at a supermarket, within a horde of people should be condemned, as should those going to the pub. They are all idiots.

Luckily for me, I am just sat at home, not going anywhere and have put mutliple jumpers on.

Yup, I'm self-insulating.

Do you enjoy having imaginary arguments with yourself?

I'm clearly not demonising anybody that goes to buy food from a shop.

The behavioural science guy on Any Questions, I think it was, was saying the real problem isn’t the few people panic buying so much as it’s loads of people buying just slightly more than they need. He also said if people went back to normal it would be fine within a week.

I had a Bombay bad boy pot noodle for tea and 2 cans of red stripe.

I'm saving the world.

nick seems a smart guy, I just don’t understand who he’s actually arguing against at this stage, everyone is saying the same thing as far as I can see?

Chinese takeaway I have just walked past is rammed with people

However people need to eat

If it's a Chinese takeaway, they are almost bound sure to deliver.
Burger king closed and forced ppl to drive thru

Takeaways may need to be forced to do same. Put number on poster and saying your order thru and we will hand it of a window or sumthinf when rdy

Notice just eat deliveroo and dominoes all do contactless delivery now too

Not ideal but sacrifices need to be made. Huge amount of people are dying. Even if you get no symptoms you could give it someone who does or maybe even lead someonw down the line dying!

perhaps Boris will address firmly this when he finally decides to talk to his country again.

Grow up - isn’t Ireland’s trend on your mates graph worse than the rest of the uk now?

The pub thing is bananas, my mate went last night. His logic, “we’re all going to get it anyway”.

That may or may not be right, but the point of all of this is that we don’t all get it at the same time.

The reason for this is that you don’t want your folks, gasping for air, being left outside the hospital because the only bed left is tied up by someone younger infected by either going to the pub, or being in contact with someone who has.

People who choose to go shopping in crowded supermarkets when they’ve already got plenty fall into the same category imho.

I look at what’s going on and quietly despair. There are an awful lot of decent people about, but some proper idiots too.

If we can’t educate people into doing the right thing, and we can’t frighten them into doing the right thing, then the only option left is to force them into doing the right thing. What’s it going to take, rationing?

I still think there needs to be a hard hitting TV advert. Dead bodies piled up in a room or something.

Shock people.
