The footage from inside the Italian hospital is pretty harrowing

I don’t why people don’t accept the inevitable that in the end 20 - 30,000 will die and all that can be done is restricting the rate of climb over 12 months - I can’t see any estimates below these figures

Chinese takeaway I have just walked past is rammed with people

However people need to eat
here you have to wait outside until there is a server free.
queues have to have 1.5m gaps.
Oh and the temperatures dropped with some snow in the air so that'll shorten the queues.

The pub thing is bananas, my mate went last night. His logic, “we’re all going to get it anyway”.

That may or may not be right, but the point of all of this is that we don’t all get it at the same time.

The reason for this is that you don’t want your folks, gasping for air, being left outside the hospital because the only bed left is tied up by someone younger infected by either going to the pub, or being in contact with someone who has.

People who choose to go shopping in crowded supermarkets when they’ve already got plenty fall into the same category imho.

I look at what’s going on and quietly despair. There are an awful lot of decent people about, but some proper idiots too.

If we can’t educate people into doing the right thing, and we can’t frighten them into doing the right thing, then the only option left is to force them into doing the right thing. What’s it going to take, rationing?
Too much victim mentality

Oooh why am i bad person for having wuiet drink at pub

Why am i bad foe getting essentials incase we the country runs out od food etc

Idiots

Tesco’s introducing 1 hour browsing for NHS on Sunday before start of business. All we need now is for them to have free access to pubs and they will be given some respite from the difficult job they are going to have.

It was ignored in Lombardia right up until the nationwide one 2 weeks ago, its very similar to the UK and is why I’m so worried of what’s going to happen there as it’s going to be the same as here. I think that here has double the number of ICU beds compared to the UK as well.

Like here, the whole country there is going to be in deep trouble.

Italy has a more congested number of cases in one area - in the end though it’s not actually that dire is it - there is a fixation on deaths and it’s rate but there was an acceptance as soon as it hit 20,000 at least will die in a first phase. So if it’s at that level it’s actually not that bad is it?

Italy's numbers are truly harrowing, but this is where everyone's favourite graph comes in handy.

As a percentage increase the daily deaths are reducing. As viruses spread exponentially (this one at around 33% per day) this is a good thing and while the daily deaths look horrific, and they are, at least they are reducing exponentially.
Tell that to the 793 that died in the past 24 hours.

800 a day for a year is 250000

No, but my brother in law and sister in law are Consultants at Worthing and Brighton.

Every decision to turn a ventilator off is made by three senior doctors. One has seen 3 Covid19 deaths this week.

Bless the pair of them and their colleagues. Absolute hero's who are probably going to carry the weight of those desicions long after this is over.

UK Covid19 deaths exactly lag Italy by 14 days. This was made two days ago. Today’s announcement that the fatality figure in the UK is 233 means we are precisely where Italy were on March 7

It won’t be 800 a day though, the key is when does the curve turn, it’s pretty evenly distributed before and after looking at China so once the numbers start coming down we’ll have a good idea of the likely total for this wave. Let’s hope we aren’t far off seeing that as they’ve been in lockdown for 12 days now.

TBH I deleted some of the post.

They have a procedure in place for all who are end of life. 3 senior doctors agree on the decision to end treatment.

I just hope the fact that Italy's population is so much older than ours means that we won't go at that rates

I've said all along it's just a case of flu.
Massive massive over reaction to a chesty cough and a bit of a temperature
What a complete bunch of spineless cunts we have become.
I hope you all realise there will be a new virus every fucking year from now on!
Its nothing new, but now, thanks to technology we can identify that "bit of a bug going round" that we've had for generations, and give it a really scary name like covid-19 because, let's be honest, if we called it bat flu (which is what it is) no one would give a fuck.
Normal seasonable flu will kill far more than covid-19. Time to wake up folks. Your being used like pawns in a global piss take.

Hill might well have something to say about a 'chesty cough' and 'a bit of a temperature.'

Give us some evidence fatso cause the figures aren’t linked with what you’re saying

Dont worry Otis, if your under 70, dont have health issues, and still have your backbone and balls you will be fine.
