Yeah, I braved a Tesco down here. Managed to get everything on my list apart from bog roll (seriously, where is it all). Bread was sold out but there was a proper load in the bakery section that seemed shut so even sorted that. Meat looked bare but that doesn't affect me.

It’s amazing remembering, unbelievable really that it’s just over three months ago since the GE of the 12th of December which gave us the Tory landslide that put Boris on ten foot of concrete with his 80 seat majority, the opposition massacred enabling him to “get Brexit done” and a free hand to massage his promises of 40 new hospitals, thousands of new doctors and nurses, 20000 new police officers the ending of austerity etc,etc. His and his party’s political grip has gone, ripped away, and when the inquests are held in a few months time of his handling of this crisis he and his cohorts will inevitably pay the price and a new politics will grow, cash deprived areas such as the NHS, the connected social care system local government and low pay will dominate for years to come I believe. We are witnessing through out the country and world even a sort of mixed socialism, not the Jeremy Corbyn version by the way just a common sense version.
Harold Wilson famously said a week is a long time in politics what we are witnessing now is a life time, worldwide.

You may need to register your parents with Sainsbury’s in some way. The person I know who was contacted via email from Sainsbury’s has a nectar card and according to FP the NHS has shared details with Sainsbury’s (presumably other supermarkets too) of who is classed as vulnerable and self isolating for 12 weeks. I might be going at cross purposes but my assumption is that they’ve compared the NHS database with their own database and contacted people of the NHS list who they have contact details for. The email from Sainsbury’s came totally out the blue so I’m not sure how else they knew to contact her. Might be worth registering any vulnerable relatives for a nectar card if they aren’t already or if they have one but no email address try contacting Sainsbury’s direct and quote their nectar card number to see if they’ll offer an earlier slot.

They are not accepting any new registrations 'at this time'.

New York Times? Now that would be funny if it wasn't serious. What are they saying about Trump? Macron? Yes he said about closing borders. But nearly every country had closed their borders with France and he kept saying they should be kept open. But we are exactly a week behind doing exactly what he has done. If we have done it wrong so has he. Their original fine for ignoring the rules started out as €35. Let's see what ours start as. Because it has gone up to well over €3,000 and 6 months in prison for persistent offenders.

Political grip has gone? When did that happen?

If it was just a fraction of what you say we would have those from other parties going for the throat. But they haven't. Why is this?

Are you upset that things have been put in place to cover 80% of wages, mortgage holidays, landlords unable to kick people out?

This has been coming for years. When I was a kid we were brought up to have respect for authority. Respect other people. Respect other people's property. But over the years it has been depleted. As for the opposition, what opposition ? pathetically still involved in a farce of a leadership contest which has conveniently enabled them to keep their heads below the parapet.
As for Boris Johnson, a good job ?? He is the Prime Minister ffs! our leader. Where has the leadership been ? After the initial £6billion promised in the budget within days, days ffs. that was increased to over £300 billion coincidently after the likes of Jenkin and Ian Duncan Smith and others rattled the cage, Cabinet changed tack massively in days, the facts of the situation forced them.

The lockdown should be made official in the next couple of days. It isn't law yet. As everyone knows I have been predicting it to happen as we have followed France. We will set fines too low so the measures put in place will be ignored by many. This is the self righteous minority who see themselves above the law. Then when higher fines/ maybe prison is announced people like you will have a go at it.

We are in unprecedented times. Taking our civil liberties away are massive steps to take. If they had been taken too early you would have been saying about the draconian measures unnecessarily put in place. But now the process has started it will be a different matter. Suddenly thise having a go at them not being in place will then have a go at them being in place.

If people had listened they wouldn't have been needed. But these days millions of people seem to know better. And some I can't blame like those who are losing their financial living. It is a hard balance to make. There will be millions of people badly affected whichever way we go.

Nothing to do with the seriousness of the situation moving quickly? So half of the population should have been left in the shite?

Open your eyes. Lockdown couldn't happen until things were put in place. More is needed but we are running out of time. Yet we will still have those who say none of it is needed. I think the ironic thing is, as much as there is, in my opinion,.plenty to criticise Johnson for, it will be how the actions of his predecessors decimated the countries infrastructure through lack of investment, particularly the NHS, which he'll.pay the biggest price for.

I don’t think anyone is blaming Johnson for the state of British youth are they? I don’t really ever know if they are actually that bad or if it’s just the natural way of things. “When I was their age” you had people going around with Stanley knives slicing up each other’s faces & spent Saturdays destroying shops & having pitched battles.

My son is a Doctor on the Covid19 wards. He doesn’t have the right protective equipment. There is not enough ventilators and he and his colleagues expect to get ill.
As a country we are woefully under resourced for what we are facing. This can be attributed to 10 years of under funding the NHS from the government.
As a country, we voted for a government that did this, so we have ourselves to blame.

Who currently gain most in our society? It’s generally not the wealth creators like entrepreneurs.
It’s people who make the laws, the bankers who feed off the risk takers and wealth creators all served by having a parliament full of ex-lawyers and bankers.
