No and it’s obvious that fatalities will rise. If it isn’t rising in the next two weeks the government went too early on lockdown - there has to at some point be escalation of deaths here and also Germany

I’d say it’s probably an anomaly. Deaths today are people who became infected 3 weeks ago. If I’m wrong and they are the same tomorrow that’s great but I really doubt it.

Unfortunately I can’t see why us and Germany would be sorry out compared to other economies like France in particular - it’s one day so let’s see what the next few bring

Too early to tell about lockdown, they thought it would take 10-14 days to start showing in the numbers. They’ll be plenty of difficult days ahead no doubt. I can’t believe I’m writing this but over the weekend it felt like anything under 100 deaths per day over the past 3-4 days wouldn’t have been too bad so in that sense they’ve been ok (you know what I mean)

Let’s hope they can keep them under control, it does feel like a massive national effort at the moment...obviously nhs, army, key workers, volunteers etc

Yeah it will have nothing to do with any supposed lockdown. Could be luck could be the nhs is still coping well.

Statistical outlier in all likelihood. Italy’s has days where it’s dropped by 100 then shot up. Like following City, don’t get too excited or depressed by one result, look at the trend.

London is our major problem. We haven't reached the time when we find out how many were infected on those crammed tube trains. Wouldn't take that many to infect a lot. And how many of them live away from London?

Anybody else starting to lose track of days being locked indoors? I don't have an outside space so just staring at the outside world and working when my alarm goes off. It's really starting to kick in ow difficult the next weeks/months are going to be.

These numbers suggest that 163 cases are currently serious or critical, yesterday it was only 20. I assume most of the following day’s deaths will come from these cases, therefore I would expect a significant increase tomorrow.

All I can see is another example of LG's condescension towards others

On his two points:

1. Hes right that any tests should be allocated via things like medical records first. Surely we test the most vulnerable or those on the front line first, no? Logical.

2. Again, theres soooo much conjecture on here, its unreal. The nice thing about this thread - the commeraderie amongst everyone. The care between posters. The concern shown for each other. It's been great to hear about each person's individual circumstances and lives etc. However LG is also right on the fact of supposed expertise on here. It reminded me of a post I saw on Facebook. Something along the lines of 'Dont worry about what the experts say...Sandra from no.54 is apparently a bio-scientist, economist and politician at the same time. Not bad for somewhere who appeared to just sell Bath Bombs on eBay for her 6 kids'. Or words to that affect.

So yes, I think LG was spot on in that post.

Nice to end the day on a positive note so here is goes...

Dyson have confirmed receipt of an order of 10k ventilators from the UK (they are also building a further 5k which they are donating around the world, 1k to UK)
Total deaths has risen but only to 463 (so I think 30 in total today)
Finally some decent amounts of protective gear has arrived at NHS trusts (sounds like it needed the army to do what civil servants obviously couldnt !)
400,000 volunteers to help NHS (amazing number in 24 hours !)
Progress on the testing (not sure about this antibody one yet but fingers crossed)

There were 1,427 new cases yesterday. That doesn’t suggest its significantly slowing down. The log graph of new cases might be showing a slight slowdown in the rate of growth but still growing at an alarming rate.

But that might reflect a massive increase in testing? The figure of critical and deaths is more important I wold have thought, we already know that thousands upon thousands of people have this thing.

We all deal with things in different ways, some people obviously like to try and get as much random data as possible, some look at the positives, some negatives, some like to blame politicians or experts, some make jokes. I apparently just like to come on and condescend SBT members.

People in London have definitely started to get the message
Plenty still out shopping and exercising but keeping their distance more than before
The problem with the tube is 1/3rd of the staff are off sick rather than a deliberate reduction in service level
Brompton and some cycle hire companies are offering NHS staff free bikes so they can avoid the tube

I think I’m coming to end of my second full week of it and not finding it easy and losing track of days and weeks.

Honestly Monday was very hard after realising that I will have to do this until the end of April at the earliest. It’s much more restrictive here and not being able to go outside properly is taking its toll. We have a few tiny balconies which is something at least.

I am hoping that all this will lead to a change for the better within societies though.

The graph was a logarithmic death rate graph, it's not been seen since we diverged from Italy

I think I’m coming to end of my second full week of it and not finding it easy and losing track of days and weeks.

Honestly Monday was very hard after realising that I will have to do this until the end of April at the earliest. It’s much more restrictive here and not being able to go outside properly is taking its toll. We have a few tiny balconies which is something at least.

I am hoping that all this will lead to a change for the better within societies though.

That's why i hope people listen here so we can keep some freedoms
