After your strange claims about the Russian military enforcing lockdown in Italy and the Chinese community in Tuscany being responsible for the outbreak in Lombardia (250km away and actually a warped theory started by fascists here), it is hard to take you seriouisly.

Are they lying? ROS claimed Johnson is. I’m sure they will be an enquiry in Italy eventually to see why the outbreak was so severe, Chinese migrants has been discussed as a possibility by many people hasn’t it?

I knew that if I said anything about Boris he'd appear within seconds and start firing irrelevant questions around- its lunchtime, can't get VPN to work so just wanted to see how many random deflection questions he could ask in the space of 5 mins, think its 5 so far and I see we're already moved onto his favourite- Chinese migrants and why other countries have got things so badly wrong :)

I only know a couple directly but I know more indirectly over in the factory- minimum week and a half and thats if it really was mild. I know one who is still rough after 3 weeks and that was "mild".

Boris clearly did have symptoms otherwise he wouldn't have been tested, he wasn't asymptomatic (unless he was lying). So either he was totally asymptomatic and a test was done as a precaution & was positive (in which case there's a lie as we were told he had reported symptoms), or he is symptomatic and is a miracle of medical science, and can come out of hiding in 3 days when the rest of planet earth is told 14 days is the isolation period.

There is no shock or surprise here, just more inconsistencies & bullshit flying around.

It's 7 days isn't it? Woman at work's husband is a copper, he has just had it and got over it in 3 days but has isolated for 8. Back to work tomorrow but no antibody test.

It’s also known that numerous have been totally asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms

ps I know one person who’s 99% certain (according to NHS 111) she’s had/got it and cough still hasn’t gone away after a week, then again she hasn’t taken any medication

Hey there Stevie Boy- you are indeed a 'rampant Tory' but you are also balanced and eloquent and you always make sense. Fair play to ya :)

No its 14 days, albeit thats clearly not a 'law'. 14 days is the recommended quarantine period. I may be wrong but I think in USA the CDC have made that a pretty binding rule, as much as they have the power to.

All I know is that if you really believe that Boris Johnson was tested positive & had symptoms, and yet has now miraculously recovered after 3 days then you came down with the last drop of rain. Utter bullshit.
Struggling to believe a man who says he has a persistent cough and doesn’t even fake the black lung Derek Zoolander stylee. Plus it’s Boris who is a proven lire.

Your theory of the Tuscan Chinese community being responsible for the Lombardia outbreak (250-300km away) is shared by the far right.

It’s like blaming a community in Sheffield for being responsible for an outbreak in London.

But as has been said it largely depends on how much of the virus you pick up on transmission, but then depends on individual factors like the strength of the immune system etc..

If it's only a very small amount then your body will notice it and start fighting it when it hasn't got that much of it to deal with, and also means it takes longer for the virus to replicate to a level that would overwhlem your immune system. Thus you end up with less of the virus in your system and making your symptoms milder and your recovery likely to be quicker.

If you get a massive dose (ie someone sneezes on you) then your body has a large amount to deal with very quickly and all that will replicate exponentally in your body making the job for your immune system much more difficult. As it struggles to cope it either goes into overdrive and causes damage or eventually is overwhelmed and gives up.

Think of it like the difference in infection rate of flu to coronavirus of 1.4 to 3 and the difference it makes in how many people are infected. It's the same principle of exponential growth, just going on inside your body. It's the principle behind active vaccines.

I know there are no positives in a situation like this, but I have found the 'science' behind it really interesting- how this thing works, the new discoveries being made, the way our bodies respond and even down to the 'spike proteins' on the virus itself. Incredible to think that humans have no defence to this and we just have to hope that our bodies 'figure out' a way to deal with it once it gets to the acute stage.

Do you think that people living in the ex soviet states are more amenable to this sort of control? Granted it is now a very long time ago and beyond the memory of a lot of people under 40.
More used to it for sure. It's only 30 years since Communism went so many spent some of their lives under that type of regime.
also police maybe better behaved now than when i first was spending time in Eastern Europe but don't have the same restraint as UK police (or rather less oversight and certainly less media coverage for their actions). So enforcing things like lockdowns will be done more firmly!!
Again don't have this nonsense where people can rack up offences without doing time. They don't do slaps on the wrist or cautions.
But it's different cultures eg, Don't have unemployment benefit here as such - each mayor's office has them doing menial jobs for x hours per month before they get a "minimal" wage.

I think the 393 includes a catch up from those who died outside of hospital previously not reported
Even so - if we are going to be around 25k deaths, and we are at the peak in around 2 weeks, that number will probably double by then
