Billy Liar. The TV series.

The 1963 film version with Tom Courtenay, is a true British classic and an absolutely fantastic movie, but I then also liked the 70's TV sitcom too.

I don't think I have ever seen it repeated. I wonder if it ever was.

Anyone else remember it? Jeff Rawle.

You should watch the film. It is excellent. Tom Courtenay, Rodney Bewes, Leonard Rossiter and Julie Christie.

A true classic.

Apparently, seemingly never ever repeated. No idea why. It had good ratings and was very popular, but having now checked, it was never shown again.

As I say I have seen it but I was very young ‘maybe 10 or 11 so yeah I should give it another go.
The sitcom I was born in 69 so it obviously aired just before my goggle box days.

Don’t know if this is relevant to this in particular, but I’m sure I’ve read about TV production crews
Camera men etc going on strike in the 1970s and a lot of the reels were taped over, by office and
Executive staff trying to keep things going .
I know that sounds sketchy because ‘well it is sketchy, just sure I’ve read something like it.

Yup.

There is a DVD available though, so they did have this one somewhere in the locker.
