LM: Tommy Hutchison (no 'N' before the 'S')

ST: Ian Wallace

Fantastic line up. I'd have Gillespie ahead of Atherton. And although I've been very critical of Strachan as a manager on these pages, he was different class on the pitch (even at the age of 38) and certainly would be on the bench and most likely in any starting XI.

Hmm this one actually trickier than I thought but from live game only it helps as limits me to early 90's onwards.

Going 4-4-2 struggled with left back tbh

This is about as close as I can get but I’ve given up now as I need to get Bennett, Nilsson and Ferguson in as well and it’s hurting my head.

Very nearly exactly my team - we must be a similar age! I would probably have Gordon Strachan in there (you could tell he was a very special player even at the age of 38) and switch Stewart Robson to he bench.

Or go 3-5-2?

Yes I think we probably are - I’m 55, saw my first game 74/5 and was hooked straightaway.

Fair shout on Strachan - I’m sure he came on as a sub at the Dell and got us back in the game almost single handedly - finished 2-2 iirc. Liam Daish was sat with the Cov fans. Funny what you remember and what you don’t.

Good shout to include Bennett in there. Very under rated in my view, even by City fans. He had everything, skill, pace, great delivery and a scorer of spectacular goals. I was invited to a match with my family back in the 1980s by a Luton player who had big Coventry connections (Luton vs. Cov at Kenilworth Rd) and Benno scored a wonder goal. I was going mental in the player's box - only to be sharply dragged down by my Dad. But what a strike.

Oggy - Just keeps out Bill Glazier
Oakey- Love watching him play, such a shame his career was so brief
Peake
Gillespie - Ball playing centre halves
McDonald - Such a skilful player.
Carr
Mortimer- Attacking midfield, both ball carriers who could score goals
Bennett - Best right winger I have seen for us
Wallace-
Regis- Power, pace and goals from these two
Hutchison- Our greatest player as far as I am concerned, Mr Magic.

Him and Speedie were my favourite players as a kid , Bennett could have off games but when he was on it he was up there with Waddle as an old fashioned winger
